That’s slightly outdated because now after six months from your last infraction you can earn TL3 again (used to be a permanent demotion). So far as I understand it, those six months count as time served too, so if you maintained the requirements during your probation you’ll rank up again the moment it’s over instead of having to building it up from the ground up again.

It wasn’t always like that though. Back for Legion if you got into Beta, your whole account got TL3 on the forums automatically. It was also impossible to lose. That was all recently corrected.

No, I had alpha/beta TL3 for all of my characters for like 5 years. I currently have just the regular TL3 for only this character.

I only noticed because I can see the lounge again. I figured I had permanently lost it because I wasn’t going to read 9000 posts (although I found that number hard to believe when he told me - I would have thought I would have been close).

This is not entirely true, for about 2 years or so I had it without being very active on the forums anymore (pretty sure it was thanks to getting beta access for one of the Classic versions, not sure which one), only lost in within the last month or two (maybe when TWW Alpha started? Idk for sure though).

Oh, I had no idea Blizz actually did tie it in with stuff outside the forums! Looks like I learned something today!
It was not really “outside” the forums exactly. They wanted people in one of the Beta tests to be able to comment and post images/video. So they created a forum group structure that had those permissions and dumped all the Beta folks into it. Those permissions gave them not only the intended posting, but permanent TL 3 for the ACCOUNT, not just a single character like normal for the WoW forums.
That error persisted for years so there were people would could never lose TL3 no matter that they did not meet the requirements, or changed chars, or got suspended.
It got fixed a couple months ago. I assume they adjusted the permissions on the group that people were in so that they no longer had perma powers. They have to now earn TL3 on each character the way the forum software normally works.
Some people who were in that group really had no clue how the forum software worked for everyone else.

I was in that beta group, and still am. But since I primarily post on this character anyway, nothing changed for me.
I didn’t even know it had for others until the posts about it started appearing.
My trust level fluctuates.
I could be at level 3 one day, and then back to level 1 the next.
I’ll comment somethin like “2+2=4” and I’ll get reported for trolling.
