How do you deal with this situation? I’m not criticising it one way or another, but I’m genuinely curious. Tank is already down the hall before everybody has loaded in. Tank speeds through the dungeon on a character that can leave certain classes behind. Mobs aggro people trying to keep up, people die several times. People die on boss, tank just keeps running. In Time Walking Burning Crusade dungeons, this means you’re stuck back at the entrance, with no possible way to catch up with the group. Do you just stand there and wait for people to finish the dungeon?
You can say, oh hey, easy run, enjoy it. But I’m not playing to chase tanks through a dungeon. This used to be relatively rare, but now it just seems like the norm more times than not.
I like to feel somewhat useful in dungeons, not just there to watch the Main Character be awesomely heroic while everybody just loots the bodies. I dunno. Feels bad.
If they are pulling shenanigans like your example, I’ll just afk and watch YouTube on my second monitor until the run finishes and wait for the loot to be mailed to me.
Don’t play into their game if they are being turds.
I’ve had runs before where the clown would run into the boss rooms and I would get locked out. Fine. They can do all the work and I’ll receive a free reward.
If you are not moving super speed through easy content then party members are upset. But if you aren’t fully clearing a path that kills your other party members you are just slowing yourself down.
Now, here is something that happens a bit often:
The tank and three other members are speeding down a dungeon together. One player kind of gets left behind that isn’t as familiar with the dungeon. This player really isn’t needed to make the dungeon any faster so the rest of the group just kind of continue to tunnel down to the end. They dont need to kick the slow player as the dungeon will be over in four minutes anyways.
Depends on how far down the hall they are. If they are only to the 1st or 2nd pack, just use some movement CDs to catch up, especially if they have all the mobs on them. If they’re skipping packs and are way down the hall already, just wait for them to die, especially if they are doing skips I don’t know how to do.
Well, really there’s nothing you can do. If the tank is that far you can’t reach him even blinking wouldn’t help then it’s time to leave the dungeon, if he in that much a hurry then he doesn’t need you.
I agree, but if the tank doesn’t run down the hall as fast as possible, there’s the ADHD DPS bouncing around like they’re having a panic attack if we’re not constantly pulling.
Try that with a demon hunter gliding all the way to the last boss in mythic and tell me it’s the dps’s fault to not reach it because the only pull was his ,which didn’t last long and wiped us. Nope, time to leave before we even start .
Yeah at that point they’re not really being a tank. They’re just being bad at the game. Tanking is more than just pulling mobs. It’s taking care of your team, being aware of your surroundings, positioning mobs to enable them to be most efficiently dispatched.
Eh I just watch youtube while running after them. I hit bosses once to get credit then go afk to see if they’re even paying attention.
Actually chasing the tank is kinda fun when you’re playing a evoker healer tho. Not that I want to do that by default. The extra movement is at least nice.
I’ve never run into a tank that fast, idk. I ran my holy Paladin through his 5 already and even with a demon hunter tank I had to tell him he could go faster if he wanted (he was already multi pulling and chain pulling into bosses)
They do better in pace but not the way THAT demon hunter did ,forgot the dungeon name .it was a cave he ran pulled all the blobs jumped the bridge to the next level killed the boss there ,while we tried to catch up ,only to have all the mobs on us with no tank . Nope not happening again to me tky.
