Character stuttering when moving especially in fights

So I know I more than meet the system requirements for this game and my gf barely meets it on her laptop yet for some reason I have this ungodly stutter when moving that she doesnt on her laptop.

My system requirements are as follows:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE H370M D3H GSM
CPU: I7-8700k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid LC120E RGB Liquid Cooler
RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR4 2x 8GB 3200
GPU: ASUS ROG Strix 570 4GB OC
Storage: Team Group 1TB M.2
Seagate 1TB
ADATA 120 GB
PSU: ARESGAME AGV650W

So here is what I am noticing. I am getting great 60 FPS all the time. I dont have usual lag (except in raids) but yet I am getting this weird stutter where my character will jerk when moving. I literally have to jump every time he does that to stop it. It did this BEFORE Shadowlands when i was using a 1050 graphics card and an AMD FX 8300 CPU. I replaced the Motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM in preparation for Shadowlands and it fixed the movement stutter until they did some update in Feb and now it wont stop. Ive put up with it until now when its actually gotten 10 times worse than it used to be. I cant move more than a few yards in game without it doing it all over again.

Besides the GPU (cant think of any other reason why the game is stuttering like this) but my GF is using an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050 on a laptop and her character doesnt stutter AT ALL!!! Hell she has almost perfect 60FPS and I cant figure out what the actual ****! And atm cant upgrade the GPU given the ungodly cost of the GPUs at this time. A 1080 is selling for almost $1000 that is waaaaay more than they are worth. So I am stuck with the 570 for the time being.

Any help on how to improve this would be great.

PS: I also play Star Wars The Old Republic where I participate in raids (Operations) and Mythic Dungeons (Master Flashpoints) and i dont have any of these issues at all!!! Im also thinking of getting another ASUS ROG 570 GPU to run together…would this work for fixing this you think?

I’m using an RTX 3070 and I’m also getting crazy stuttering at the moment just from movement in raids. No other game has this issue and it seems to be a widely reported problem.

If its a widely reported issue, you’d think Blizz would fix it. But last time I told them about the issue, I got the whole “its your computer” copy paste routine. I even turned everything down to Low from High and it actually made the movement stutter even worse. Not better…worse

Hey Andaillayle,

The movement stutter you’re describing sounds odd. No we don’t have any widespread stutter/performance issues that would be causing what you’re describing.

You have to press Spacebar to jump and it stops happening? That sounds like a keyboard problem.

Does the stutter happen if you hold down right-click and left-click to run forward with just the mouse? If it’s not happening when using only the mouse to move forward maybe that’ll help narrow it down.

Also having this issue, I have vsync on and my frames locked at 120, usually happens in bgs, while I turn my camera I get constant stutter but my frames don’t budge from 120, geforce 2070 super btw

Pretty sure the people in this thread are referring to frame drops during movement when fighting. Not referring to odd movement issues via the keyboard.

OP do not try to run a crossfire setup for this issue, multi-gpu setups very rarely bolster performance in games especially these days as the technology has largely been considered a failure and sometimes you’ll actually see a performance decrease. Also I am running a 3070 and still having the problem so I’m very doubtful your solution would work. I have seen people talk about UI element addons potentially causing this issue, I haven’t had the chance to test it myself but if you’re running ElvUI or other such addons you may want to try disabling all addons and heading into LFR (if you’re on retail) or maybe try joining an AV if you’re on classic.

While there are things that can mitigate stuttering, the problem never fully goes away. This problem arose from the loss of exclusive fullscreen. It would be nice if you would solve this problem as it has been years since it was introduced. You have left people to fend for themselves, constantly trying to find ways to fix a game that was once working perfectly, handed back to them broken. All it would take to see this problem is an RTSS FPS graph and you could physically see it stuttering. It’s never fully smooth even with nothing going on. You can only get it ‘mostly’ good.

VSync still has tearing whether its AMD, NVIDIA, or ingame vsync. It doesn’t work. It sure used to! Frame limiting + VSync seems to work the best, but again: it’s never perfect. Take a test machine and talk to the team responsible for doing the DX12 version of the client and get this knocked out, please!!

Atm Im not using any Addons…I removed them to try and see if they were causing any issues and nothing has changed.

Even with left click and right click it still does it just a bit less

This definitely sounds like the stuttering issue. I Hope Andaillayle gets some follow ups. I’m eager to see if he can be helped.

Blizzard has made 0 Blue posts on the stuttering issues for two weeks now. A response to Andaillayle, a link to blue posts, we need something.

Did this ever get fixed or did it just fall off Blizzard’s radar due to don’t care/ain’t my problem/bigger fish to fry with Microsoft owning us now…??

It is called a bottleneck your gpu is bottlenecking your system
You have a very powerful cpu compared to the gpu is all not saying it is not game related but is you were to go to bottleneck.com you would see

This issue was resolved by Blizzard on 8/4/2021 after Tuesday maintenance. They never said how they did it.

 As of last week the problem has returned. Here’s a link to my post if your curious.

Here’s a link to the problem from mid 2021 that this thread is refering to.

Do not resurrect old posts even if the symptoms suggest it is the exact same issue.

If you do not see a current active post for an issue you are experiencing, we ask that you make a new post. You can definitely reference older issues in your new post but each incident separated by more than a couple of weeks should be treated as it’s own incident so we don’t just assume troubleshooting won’t work because it didn’t work for something similar many months ago.

Whatever caused the symptoms 7 months ago for players is not likely going to be the same source now.
