Character STUCK IN PVP MODE - WotLK Classic

I have a level 75 character that has been stuck in PVP mode for several days now, and I cannot disable it.

What I have done:

  1. Verified no PVP quests in quest log
  2. Disabled all add-ons
  3. Removed WTF, Cache, and Interface directories
  4. Travel to Stormwind, then enable/disable PVP, waited 5+ minutes

No matter what I do, I cannot get out of PVP mode.

Please help, because this makes it so I cant get certain buffs and heals when grouped.

Try killing the character. That should clear any weird buffs too. It’s sort of a last ditch effort, but it should work. Just remove your gear and fall from a high-up place (flying mount, then dismount way up).

I tried a few ways of killing myself:

  1. First simply tried killing myself, then waiting 5 minutes to see if PVP cleared. No
  2. Next, set my PVP flag to “enable”, killed myself, then disabled PVP, waited 5 minutes. No

The above attempts were in Hellfire Peninsula, so I thought maybe I should try it from a capital city - Stormwind. So I did just that, enabled PVP, life-tapped to near zero, jumped off the mage tower to die, and ran back to ressurrect. Then I set PVP to “disabled” and waited 5 minutes. Still no luck.

Truly at a loss here and seems like a rather serious, but apparently rare? bug.

What quests do you have in your log? Even if you don’t think they are PvP quests, some might be.

Are you questing in Grizzly Hills, Dragitan? There are several PvP dailies in that area. Odds are you have one in your quest log, which will flag you for PVP.

Edit: You have Life or Death in your quest log, that is a PvP quest.

Ah, ok, that was it. Thank you!

What threw me off was that I had an Alterac Valley quest marked (PVP) in my log, which I had abandoned to no avail, and I assumed that all PVP quests were marked as such. I didn’t realize that there were PVP quests not marked as such.
