Character Reporting

Dont like the new forums btw, it is impossible in game or on forums to quickly to talk to a gm about this issue. A Party lfg for time walking had 3 characters that /w my niece to self harm from a time walking dungeon. She was unable to properly report because she was so heart broken and upset, I am working to have the issue addressed. Please contact me in game on my character so I can send you their names so you can review her party history and verify. Please contact me as soon as possible, I will be waiting in game.

If you need to report a player, the best option is to use the report functionality. You should work with your niece so she understands how to do this. This is really the only way to properly report players, and neither this forum, nor the contact us form, will provide you with any option to talk to a GM, in addition it wouldn’t matter as outside of reporting another player, they would be unable too discuss anything about any actions or any investigations taken.

There isn’t really anything new about our systems, Dathirdone, but I do understand your concern.

I am sorry that your niece had that kind of experience. It is definitely not how others should be behaving towards anyone.

I’m afraid a Game Master will not be able to reach out to you, or discuss this matter with anyone other than the accounts it involved. If your niece wishes to report them, it is usually best to do so through the right click report option, but she can also put in a ticket. The Report a Player category has several options that she can use. Please make sure she provides specific names/realms and an approximate time of the incident.

This is not something they will do. Last resort, you can open a ticket and provide the details like character names/realms, what dungeon it was, approximate date/time, and what was said, and they might be able to look into it.

Note that they do you normally take reports this way, as the right-click report system provides much more information for the GM to look at. But given the severity of what you describe, it’s worth a shot.

It’s really the only way to get it in front of a GM, if it couldn’t be reported in-game.

There is no option to facilitate report. Looking at previous parties she ran with, the least could do was add them to the ignore list. With that being said, I will be monitoring her account and if the offenders attempt to contact again will be forwarded to through the in game system. thanks for the help everyone/ And yes, I know there isnt alot to that has changed, but alot has changed for the few of us that have been playing for a long time, it used to be easy to get ahold of gm’s for small issues like unstuck , etc, but this is a bigger one, and it was not easy to get help but then to lean in on the Forums.

If she placed them on ignore and they do circumvent that, it falls under Ongoing Harassment, which can be investigated.

Quite frankly, for these issues, the systems that we have now are much better.

  • Unstuck is now a self-help service, so it can be immediately worked. Even with these tickets being a priority queue, it still took 15-30 minutes to get to it. Now it’s immediate.
  • The Right Click Report system is much better, because it doesn’t use a ticket. Before, reporting a name meant opening a general ticket, waiting a day, then sitting through the “we can’t tell you what actions we took” spiel. Much worse, if you were reporting someone this way, better not need a GM for a more urgent matter (Like being unstuck) because you could only have one ticket at a time. Plus, the report automatically generates everything the GM needs to look into the report, much more information that a player can provide.

Overall, any changes made to the forums and Support site are done to make things easier for the players and the GM’s on the other end. If the Support site doesn’t give the option to open a ticket for your issue, it’s because there are self-help options to use or because it’s not an issue a GM can assist with.

Just having a pop-up box to type your issue doesn’t make it the best way to get a player the support they need. Far from it.

…not to mention that a lot of people were just typing “HELP” with no other information in their ticket back when typing out your problem was an option for tickets…

Just to mention this as it appears no one has said it. If anyone does say anything that is inappropriate or whatever, please tell the person on the receiving end NOT to respond in any way as that means you’re having a conversation with them and blizz won’t do anything in that situation. Simply report them and once that is done place them on ignore.

I want to clarify here.

It isn’t that you can’t speak to the other person for any reason and if you do we won’t help. For ongoing harassment, we want to make sure that the tools that are provided in-game are being used to help mitigate the contact. If you were to continue to engage with the person and not place them on ignore, that can change the definition of what it is considered. Instead of ongoing harassment, depending on the situation, it may be considered a mutually combative engagement.
