Anyways, to make a long story short, my girlfriend ended up having to change accounts and wanted to use her old name. She deleted the old one and waited over 30 days in order for the name to clear up but it still says its unavailable. She checked and it seems that no one else has taken the name so im confused as to why she still cant use the name.
I appreciate any help in advance.

If you are looking by searching the armory, it might not be up to date. Did you try to check in game, via the friends list, see if the character exists there?
TBH, the forums probably won’t know for sure as we won’t know either with out the name, and posting the name might put it at risk of being used.
If you try to add them as a friend in-game, it will help you to determine what’s going on.
If it says, “There’s nobody by that name”, then nobody has taken it.
If it says, “You can’t add a friend of the opposite faction.” then someone snagged it.
And if it adds the name as a friend, it also means someone has taken the name.
Lastly, if you determine that it’s still available but she can’t choose it, then it likely just hasn’t been enough time yet. It should be 30 days, but right down to the minute and second that it was freed up.
So if she deleted it 30 days ago today, but it happened at 11:30pm, then you’d need to wait until 11:30pm to use it again.

Does it show that if someone has used the name but not yet logged into the character?
It actually lets you add them to friends/says they are the wrong faction even if they haven’t logged into the character yet. So Perl’s method works regardless of that.
Did your girlfriend happen to start on an entirely different Battlenet account? The character name would be locked to the original Battlenet account for 90 days.
Just for clarification, the 90 day restriction would only apply if a character service, which may have changed the character’s name, was used.
