Character Locked, 9 day ticket time, Repayment Option broken on Battle.Net Checkout

I have not been able to access my character for two days due to my character being locked after disputing a double charge for a server transfer. Now at this point, blizzard can take the extra 27 dollars from me because this headache is not worth it.

Every time I have tried to check out, ever since Monday, to repay chargeback I am given this message: We encountered an issue completing your transaction. Please try again later. If the issue persists, please click here.

I have clicked the “pay now” button an extreme amount of time, and my prayers that some sort of error notification on the developer end seem to be for nothing because the cart issue will not subside.

Am I really not to access my main character for 9 days while I wait for a ticket? I essentially feel banned right now…

Would appreciate some blue guidance.

Important to note that this issue is regarding a different account, which I am not able to post on the forums on.

Tickets are averaging 7 to 8 day or more depending on the issue as long as you have a ticet in it will be looked into.

I mean yeah, I understand this. But the fact that I cannot access the character, even if I am willing to pay back the disputed claim, because their online purchasing processes are compromised, is a bit of an issue which escalates the problem.

This outcome is literally worse than people who got suspended for buying gold.

One thing you might want to try is adding funds to your battle.net balance. See if that will work and then you should be able to use those funds to pay for the chargeback.

Unfortunately I did try that. I tried Credit, Debit, and have a balance enough to pay the chargeback in blizzard bucks but that still doesnt solve the issue.

I see 5 tickets currently open on this.

There was never a duplicate charge. There was one - then there was another that failed. You were never charged twice. Pending charges may have gone through - but that’s on all orders, no money actually travels, and those drop off.

It may be important to note that during high queue times (not only for tickets) character services can take a while to process. While they are normally quite swift -if there is a line, it can take up to 72 hours.

These are in queue - and are all open, but only a day old. It may be a few days before they come up in queue.

Did you purchase the Battle.net balance with credit card? Once you’ve issued a chargeback, they’re understandably gunshy about resolving that with another credit transaction. It may be helpful to add an appropriate amount of balance via physical Balance cards purchased locally.

On my banking app it showed I was charged twice, which was why I issued a chargeback.

Regarding me not being able to pay the chargeback back, what is being done to fix the checkout processes to enable me to repay?

The checkout feature has not been functional ever since my account has been locked. My tickets can pretty much be resolved if I am able to successfuly check out and purchase or pay.

As Orylia said, the second one fails. Your bank is always going to hold the money, every time you click “Pay Now” (or some other variation). When the second charge doesn’t go through, the funds are released. So, the chargeback you issued was for the first charge.

Totally understand the confusion, but moving forward, having a discussion with your bank or with Blizzard before doing a chargeback is the bests course.

That’s up to Blizzard on their end, if there is an issue. But lately, we’ve seen a number of these reports. It seems that with repaying chargebacks, Blizzard is not allowing the normal methods for players that like to use chargebacks as a method of quitting the game. Not saying that was your intention, but on Blizzard’s end, they want a little more assurance that it’s not going to happen again.

In the end, you’ll have to wait until your ticket is answered. Ticket times are extremely high right now, unfortunately.

It just seems a little ridiculous that they wont accept 3 different payment methods, and further to not giver further detail as to why the charge wont go through or servicing things in a timely manner is frustrating.

And even if I tried to have a discussion with blizzard beforehand, I couldnt because the wait times are so long.

Its just pretty feels badman when all the customer support is stripped away and you basically get banned while trying to resolve the issue.

You could have come here and asked, Bemus.

I am here asking right now.

I meant you could ask BEFORE you took action.

You have to look at it from their end. Here’s a customer who uses chargebacks for whatever reason they have. A chargeback is not supposed to be used to get a refund, or to quit the game and get your money back for time played, or even when you see a second charge. A chargeback is for fraud. When you issue a chargeback, you are saying “I didn’t authorize this transaction”, when you really did, even if it was a double click.

So when a customer is known to use chargebacks like this, Blizzard is a little wary of letting you use those methods to repay the chargeback. What’s to stop that person from doing it a second time?

Yes, we all know the wait times are long and frustrating. But everyone has to wait. You’re in a line, and you’re not going to able to skip to the front.

Customer Support is as lively as ever. But again, there are a lot of people in line ahead of you. You don’t get to skip past them.

Well, while this isn’t about who’s at fault, the issue was caused by you. You’re not “banned”; you just owe money before you can play the game again. This is one of the two main reasons why it’s never advised to issue a chargeback, no matter what the situation is. The first reason is that it’s a lie, which could be considered an actual crime. But the other reason is that you will eventually have to repay the money you owe, and this is what happens.

A chargeback is meant to be a last resort, employed when no other resolution has been satisfactory. Not when no other resolution has even been attempted.

When I am paying off a credit card and I see a double charge that I am paying for, I am going to go to my bank to dispute it. The charge “went through” and I was paying interest on it.

I am literally paying a subscription with the same bank account that is beind denied to pay the chargeback back. Yet my subscriptions have gone through.

Listen I get it, If they really took the angle and said “hey we dont trust you credit card or you you have to wait a couple days to fix this” fine, at least there is straight forward communication there. But my subscriptions, are being renewed, so I dont think that really holds any water.

The fact that there is no further guidance on how to expedite this issue, is ridiculous. After years of purchasing from WoW and blizzard, One charge back, and im blackballed? It doesnt make sense.

I can assure you customer support is not lively as ever. If that was the case, then this process wouldnt be as frustrating or as opaque as it has been.

Getting rid of live support, and week long queues do not point to a lively CS experience.

I have played wow long enough to know there is a stark contrast in the CS of today vs the CS of old.

We actually have far more people on queue now than ‘of old’, Bemus.

We also have more games than ‘of old’

Far more players than ‘of old’

A rather perfect storm of releases with players coming back and issues than ‘of old’

We do triage. While every player thinks their issue is of paramount importance - those that can’t get in do take a priority. There is just a mighty queue at the moment. Opening multiple tickets also doesn’t help that.
