"Character Boosts are not in keeping with Classic. We don't want to break any hearts."

it’s a separate client entirely. if we’re gonna argue semantics and pretend that isn’t the case then classic and retail are the same game cuz they’re both wow and retail has had boosts for years so it’s okay.

It makes perfect sense.

Blizzard has (and is here again) telling you that TBC Classic is a separate thing from Vanilla Classic. because of that, not everyone may have played Vanilla Classic, but might be interested in TBC Classic, and this is a way for them to hit the ground running on a new character and not have to lag behind where their friends are who have already played through Vanilla Classic.

Vanilla Classic and TBC Classic are separate entities which I think all these "no boost"ers are forgetting.

See above.

Boosts won’t stop anything. Quit deluding yourself.

If boosting was to level 70 I could see this level of outrage, but come on y’all…it’s to level 58. They’re gonna be in mediocre gear, getting ganked by people in Hellfire…just like all of you.

10 minutes after launch, none of you will even think about boosting. You’ll be too busy fighting over spawn rates, raging because you got ganked and getting ready for your first ramparts run.

course not, I dont care either way…both ways get more peopl eplaying so Im happy with it.

Id just rather the money go to Blizzard instead of Chinese websites. Also, its safer for people to through Blizzard than a website. So Im all for that too.

Since the boost was announced I have seen on these very forums people saying:

-boosts should have first aid
-boosts should come with profs
-boosts should have a level higher than 58
-there should be more boosts available
-boosts should be very inexpensive

Be careful- that slope is slippery and this stuff is exactly how WOW went from the masterpiece that was Wrath to whatever you want to call retail nowadays. The change happens a little bit at a time. So slowly, in fact, that many don’t see it. They even attack those trying to prevent it.

Edit to add- have also seen many asking for a token to buy. That plays in, too.

do you remember classic forums at launch? G O B A C K T O R E T A I L. i member. those people wanted to knee cap the population to only exist for people they deemed worthy. people who stopped playing retail around wrath, and people who have spent the last 10+ years playing private servers. the fact some of us have played and enjoyed wow in times they didn’t deem appropriate though? they want to keep us from playing at all. lots of people noped out of classic because classic was catered to them. now they’re on a campaign to do it with tbc classic as well. and are even so far in denial as to say blues are posting things they don’t agree with. that’s the level of cope they’re at. they lost. lol

Yes it does. TBC becomes a reset of progress, the only purpose 1-58 serves is to get to TBC.

And someone starting at 58 with junk gear and a slow mount really doesn’t hurt me at all when I’m in TBC.

Nowhere in the blue post does it say TBC Classic and Vanilla Classic are distinct games from each other. They are only clarifying that the quote about boosts only pertained to the 1-60 vanilla experience because that is all they had planned at the time. In fact, calling the vanilla realms “Classic era” realms implies they exist as part of the same project. Why not just call them “realms?”

Agree, if TBC starts at 58, I want a server that only has 58’s on it and not fully geared 60s and worse their tons and tons of gold coming into TBC to ruin a market.

the fact it’s a separate client says they’re separate games though. retail client 1. classic vanilla client 2. tbc classic client 3.

Props man.

This is BY far the BEST argument I have seen against Boosts though I find some of the assertions not really a big deal (like I dont care if someone boosts every class, that way if they get sick of one class they can play another instead of quiting like most do).

But overall, I get the “slippery slope” argument, which can be real. I have never seen a reputable MMO company go over that slope, so maybe im just tempered against that kind of thought, but I see the argument.

I apologize then for being unclear in what I meant

Leveling in Vanilla was most of the game. Talk to any designer and see where most of the development time went.

BC is where the shift to end game focus started. Vanilla leveling is no longer what the game is about. Plus its 58, one time, they’re not getting skip leveling Outland.

Besides all this talk of spirit of the game in classic where 2 weeks in it was nothing but spellcleave spamming, then mage boosting, then gdkp runs…idk. I think the players killed the spirit of the game more than any transaction blizzard can implement. Just my 2 cents.

At this point I’m just kinda hoping they limit it to new and returning players only. Deep down, though, I know they won’t pass up the chance to have tons of players boosting an extra spellcloth CD bot.

Exactly! This is a MUCH bigger threat to TBC than boosts. All the maxed out characters with 10k gold…

I find that to be a MUCH bigger problem than boosted crap characters.

I understand they are different clients.

Why is it so hard for people to grasp, that a lot of people wont play at all if they have to start at level 1, with nothing, in order to play with their friends?

The whole “yes but you can level right now” argument doesnt apply. Because for many, that 2-3 week investment in time to level (best case scenario) is too much, and they decide not to come to classic at all.

The boost is there to negate that.

another thing to consider. Without the boost, how many people would pay an illegitimate boosting service?

do you remember how angry some of them got when the exp nerf came in for them running dungeons as 10m raids? lol

I hope you warmed up before that reach. We don’t want you to pull a muscle.

There is a huge difference between private server elitists and the people expecting you level your own character. Quit with the theatrics.
