Char Customization: What Do We Want?

Even just a few predetermined bodytypes would be great, and would avoid a lot of the issues that sliders can run into, such as clipping.

The new player models Blizzard designed should be ideal for scaling up, and using sliders, but if they wanted to keep things reasonable, they could just adjust the models themselves, and give us a few slight variations. It wouldn’t be all too much work, and the players would love it.

At the moment, that’s the one thing I care most about.

C’mon, Blizz! Hair colors! Hair colors! I know you can do it! You have the technology!

I was so disappointed to get more jewelry instead of runic tattoos for belfs. >_< And no dark ranger option. They exist, so why can’t we look like them? ;-;

Anyway, undead need more love. They didn’t get any cool extras beyond the no bones thing. I want goth makeup options. Body stitching/patchwork. Face shape option would be great (that would be nice for ALL races actually)

Trolls in general need more faces. There’s at least one female hairstyle out there that an amani Npc has that is not available for female trolls. Give it to us.

Nightborne are still unfinished. They lack skin tones (where is our super dark skin tone? Not to mention that skin tone that NPCs have but we don’t). And the EYES. You have to fix the eyes to make them more narrow like the NPCs. That is a huge part of their look.

Those are the main things for me.

I’d love to see Pandaren get better hair color customization. Instead of everyone just having a tiny stripe of color, can we please get the main hair to shift hue too? If we can have fur color having such nice variety it’d be awesome to have something other than just black or brownish hair.

I’d also love to see a super pale - reddish, like the colors nearly washed out. It happens now and again in Pandas and other critters, a type of leucism . And a super dark nearly all black or deep red melanistic version.

Can I just get tusks, ears, horns, antlers and other crap that won’t clip and ruin helmets?

Love these. Very very interested in glasses, especially.

This would also be great if we got glasses! Then I could have my flower crown alongside them ^.^

This is something I didn’t consider, but would absolutely adore! I know Blood Elf nails can switch pretty easily if you choose between Death Knight and living skins. More colors would be great!

As for me, I’d love to see more hair flower options for every race! They look wonderful on Tauren, and would be fitting for everyone else too as an option! Especially Pandaren. We already have a few hairstyles with flowers, which could be made into a toggle, and perhaps those meshes could be applied to other hairstyles too? That’d be lovely : )

All I wanted were more jewerly for Night elves: tiaras/crowns, more necklaces, earrings etc., a golden jewelry option, some regal/Azshara hairstyles and natural hair colors for void elves. Too bad it didn’t happen

Everyone is asking for more customization and Pandaren are sitting here with:

3 mediocre hairstyles,

3 mediocre hue skin colors AND they removed the scalp/root hair texture for us.

Now facial hair looks like its clipping on male panda faces and it looks awful. We get 0 good crap and they ruined more than they added. Classic Blizzard.

GIVE PANDAREN GLOWING EYES LIKE CHEN, TARAN ZHU AND SHAOAHO!

GIVE US BACK HAIR OUR ROOT/SCALP TEXTURE!

GIVE OPTION TO REMOVE EYE SPARKLE, IT DOESN’T WORK FOR US! (Not to mention new eyes look crossed for all races)

Pandaren got shafted in this, gnomes and goblins got better things and they are not popular races either.

More hair styles for blood elves. Particularly the half pony tail style (half hair pulled up half hanging down) with long bangs. Similar to what night elves and goblins were given.

Silver crown option for blood elf hair with crown. The crown can only be used with gold jewelry.

Fun hair colors for blood elves like pink, blue, purple, or green. If any race invented hair dye it would be blood elves.

It is nice they added dark skin for elves, but all elves should also have hair styles for Black people hair.

Un restricting the skin color and face options for humans would be awesome. Its a bit disappointing to have all these amazing new face options but not being able to use them with existing skin tones :frowning:

Also the new skin tones arent able to be used for the old face options. I hope its just a technical issue that can be fixed!

Oh, also can we please please please fix male trolls so their hands stop clipping thru their knees whenever they wear robes or 3d pants/boots?

It seems like a slight adjustment to the idle animation is all that would be necessary to fix it

I made a different thread just the other day about this, but I think a really easy option to add for all of us would be to let us choose where we sheathe one-handed weapons.

Monks sheathe them on their backs by default so they would simply need to give us the option to toggle it like we used to for helms/cloaks.

Yes to all!

Heavily seconding all of this. A clarification of what you mean by “more serious options” might be helpful though.

More faces for tauren, especially females who only have four faces to pick from, are badly needed. Separating eye color is a wonderful start but we’ve been looking at these same four faces for many years now.

Additional suggestions/requests:
-More hairstyles!
EG Mohawks, or a mohawk tied into tufts, curly manes, etc.
-Make the new Foremane interact with eyewear where applicable. Goggles, most of which have rather chunky models, presently just sandwich shaggy bangs against the character’s face and you can see them poke out beneath, rather than be flopped on top or pushed backwards as would be more natural. Yes, tauren engineers do exist.

-More hair colors
In particular the current “Blonde” hair looks like someone spilled a bottle of peroxide on the character. A dirty blonde or strawberry blonde option would be lovely. Not “I wish to speak to your overseer” blonde.

-Hoof customization!
Big hooves, dainty hoofs, sickly/cracked hoofs, etc. Also just updating the character’s hooves to actually be cloven, and not simply a horse hoof turned backwards as it presently is.

-Separate Face/Snout options?
Presently for Tauren Females there’s only one face option in which the character looks sort of scowling and displeased, but it’s also one of the smallest nose options despite my always picturing the character with a pretty big snoz. Being able to separate face from snout, or at least nose, would be nice.

-Taunka!
If not given as an allied race (And boy, having us go back to Northrend sure feels like a missed opportunity for that) then at least a face option where the muzzle is shorter and the bridge of the nose is more prominent and sloped.

-DEFAULT IDLE POSE OPTIONS (Preferably selectable with / command)
Something that I have seen in another MMO And never realized how impactful it was to the perception of a character until I thought of WoW’s lack of it, is the option to set your character’s default posture. Standing normally, or straight with their arms locked behind them in a ‘commanding’ posture, or stooped over, or beleaguered. Almost more than any visual customization, the posture you see a character standing in is a big statement to what kind of character you’re looking at or at least what they’re going through presently. A warrior bristling with plate armor standing proudly? This guy looks in charge! The same warrior stooped over? This guy must have just lost a hard fight! Different sets of idle animations would add so much to the game’s character expressiveness.

-Height slider!
This really goes for all races, being able to vary my character height by +/- 10% or so would be huge, and a relatively easy thing since you already have the programming in place to handle characters scaled taller or smaller, as we find with Darkmoon Firewater or Pygmy Oil.

-More build options!
Again, more an ‘everyone’ suggestion. Not just Buff/Thin but also Chunky, Fat, “Skips leg day”, “Skips arm day”, “Mom/Dad bod” and blends thereof for the “I work out but I also really really like food” types. There’s a world of bodytype options to choose from. That said, a skinny Pandaren would probably be the saddest creature I could imagine.

-Amputations!
I’ve seen tons of fanart with characters who’ve lost one limb or another and this would be another relatively easy thing. Currently we can kind of haggle it with certain fist weapon models, though many of these look completely wrong when fitted to certain races (Again, poor poor Tauren females) and that completely leaves out someone who say, lost an arm up near the shoulder or down at the elbow.

-Prosthetics!
Following right on amputations, I’m really shocked that we didn’t get an armor set from Mechagon that gave characters the appearance of partially prosthetic limbs. You could pull this off with a good set of gloves for the hands and bracers for the forearm. Upper arm is trickier, and none of that covers legs. Overall it would be nice if this could just be built into character customizations.

I’d like to add to this list: At least one face without a hare lip. I miss my :] face instead of :3 face.

THANK YOU. I completely forgot that detail. The cleft lip tauren have makes no sense at all to me. cows don’t have cleft lips! Why do tauren?

When the new models were shown, that change quite literally came out of nowhere to the request of absolutely no one. I have no idea who decided it was a good idea.

I wondered about that. There was that lovely and well explained post from an artist around that time explaining how that, and the bubble shaped chin, make tauren faces weird where they could look sharp if you just squared the chin off slightly and ironed out that cleft lip.

The handling of the pad of the nose as separate from the lip also looks odd where that’s done. I feel as if someone designed tauren faces without having ever looked at an actual cow in any detail, they just went “Yeah yeah I know what a cow looks like” and we got this.
