Changing Covenant

If I’ve got to reown 22 so I’ve unlocked the ilvl197 pvp gear, can i swap my covenant and keep being able to upgrade these? Or will I have to get to reown22 again before I can ?

Thank you

need 22 again

I’m fairly certain you maintain the unlock. I’ll be testing that later today and let you know what I find out.

Ya you do need 22 again before you can upgrade.

I don’t think this is correct, I swapped back kyrian and was still able to upgrade at least my existing pieces to 197 that were 184 after switching. I’m not sure if you buy a new piece whether you can upgrade to 197 though.

Ah good to know, big if true. Especially if you can buy 184’s and continue to upgrade them. Ty.

No problem! For whatever reason I haven’t been getting any catch up renown except for from the world boss and occasional covenant daily’s. I queued 3s and pushed 300 rating without getting a single thing of catch up (supposedly you’re supposed to be able to) I got way more catch-up when I switched to venthyr first than when I swapped kyrian again. Not sure what’s going on but it’s kicking my butt.

Ya, my warrior was having this same exact issue last weekend. He ended up finally getting a renown from the world boss tonight though. It’s weird, I wonder if it’s a bug or some kind of weird DR on renown catch up.

To answer the question:

I currently have Venthyr renown at 30 and my Kyrian Renown at 18. I just bought an item with honor and was successfully able to upgrade it to 197.

I believe you need to reach the first PvP item level boost at 7 to unlock it, but you do not need to have renown 22 on the other covenants to maintain the ability to upgrade.

And renown goes pretty fast actually. Just do stuff.

It goes much slower if you are swapping covenants
