Hi all,
A GM told me to make this post from my support ticket because devs read the forums-- they also linked this forum, so I’m posting it here, in general. I made my account name many long years ago… then I was young and unafraid… and I made my WoW account name my Neopets username. With my parents permission, of course!
Don’t laugh! (Okay, you can laugh.)
My WoW account name-- not battle.net account, which is fine and great, is a bit embarrassing, and may have “horseboy” in the title. Devs, please let us change our WoW account names! Every time I look at it I cringe at the equine horror of my childish naivete.
@Dev Let us change our WoW account name! I’m sure others are stuck looking at the sins of their past… I’m certain there’s a “Version: World of Warcraft” “Account: XxSephirothsMyDaddyxX” out there who needs your help…

Customer Support forum is what you’ll be looking for to have dev’s and players to help you find the answer. As far as I know battle.net tag and account names can be changed in your account settings.
horseboi is a fantastic name ngl.

They cannot, actually. I wish they could, I’m only posting this here because the GM who answered my support ticket linked this subforum and asked me to post.

I wish I could come by with some better news. Account license names aren’t something that can be changed. The reason they have a name in the first place is due to World of Warcraft originally being a standalone account. With everything being moved into the Battle.net system years ago it prevents us from changing any World of Warcraft account names. >.<
I can certainly see why you’d want to change the name on the account, but I have no ability within my tools to help.
I’ll work on sending up some more feedback to our developers about World of Warcraft account name changes. If you could make a forum post about this it would be very helpful. Oh god I feel you. I still have my email account from when I was 6… it has the word ‘boyz’ in it. I use it unashamedly though
