So far, playing with with it, went all damage stones, went with the meta for triggering stones, replaced a 408 with the 424 version, not ideal stats but a “bis” and its eh I’m basically ending up where i started for a 16 il increase or less in some cases, and sims seem to agree with what im experiencing. but im doing all that on a Dev Drac, so dps. I don’t heal, so I cant speak for the healing stones, and what im hearing about the tank stones is that their eh, but to be fair that’s from people running high keys, where if its not doing more damage its generally not considered good.
might as well have my main up instead of the pally still lol
Primordial stones is a no for me. Feels like domination sockets in a way but with more RNG. I put the ring on and instantly felt slower because that haste is critical…if you’re gonna aim for a “legendary” type of piece that’s supposed to be the bis for the next patch please make it class specific with appropriate secondary stats.
It appears a lot of people are looking at this ring the wrong way.
It’s not supposed to be end game raiding/mythic+ gear. It’s a catch up ring.
All those players who had trash rings sub-382, got a free 411 ring with some cool (and not so cool) abilities on it that would give them a bit of a boost.
If you had better, then you don’t need it.
If you want better, it at least gives you a bit of a boost so you can get that better ring.
At the end of the day, you are not being forced to use it.
If they boost it with 2ndary stats later on, great. If not, no loss.
I’m talking about the healing you get as a DPS. The healing is very solid and it’s all Passive.
Most players are using Desirous coupled with Prophetic to get both procs and then using one of the DPS stones (usually Freezing). I think one of the problems is many of the guides were written before the last round of Buffs so some players aren’t using ideal combos and think the ring sucks.
I think that was Blizzard’s initial design intent but it looks like they reacted to the negative feedback from streamers, etc and that’s where the Buffs came from.
I know for me it simmed higher than either of my 418 Rings. Then add the self healing and huge stam boost and it was a no brainer. That’s not the case for everyone though.
With current tuning the ring is valued at anything from 550 to 390 equivalent ilvl for a ring with stats. Some specs won’t touch it now, and others won’t replace it this expansion unless blizzard change things.
So whatever their design intent was, be it a catchup item nobody really wants later on, or a powerful new piece of gear everyone will want until mid late aberrus, they’ve failed to achieve that. Even with the buffs they only increased the gap because the specs that already wanted it gained significantly more
These were both quotes from interview(s?) done just before 10.0.7 released, there’s transcripts / writeups on wowhead I’m just not able to grab the link at this time. It looks to me from this they expected / intended everyone to wear it now, and for players doing heroic aberrus / pushing into mythic to find a replacement relatively early on next patch. Currently that’s not even close to the case with some specs never using it and some never taking it off.
Something is not working as intended with Flame Licked Stone.
Paired with Desirous Blood Stone + Prophetic Twilight Stone
In 80 Applications of Desirous - it did LESS damage than the Desirous did. 2.51M vs 2.77M. If the tooltips are to be believed, there is no possible way 24k per application did less overall damage than 18k Per application.
Worth noting while this does show general trends the numbers are all still kinda crystallising. I’d expect to see rises in percentages for all the specs that have already heavily adopted the ring, so don’t take the specific percentage as particularly relevant.
