Chances of a graphics toggle

What does everyone think the odds are of a modern/old graphics toggle being included are?

I’ve heard that it changes PVP in some way?

I don’t think I’d be able to go to the new graphics (which I like) unless the possibility of turning off the updated player character models also existed.

Lol. Aqua rambos incoming.

Your mistake is in combining the concept of updated graphics with updated models.

They’re not the same thing.

At this point, updated graphics is all but confirmed.

I think the community’s confidence in a lack of new models is about the same.

A betting man agrees.

I am all for a modern and old toggle.

Provided it does not delay classic release i have no problem with a graphics toggle.

In addition to the above i have minimal issue with a character model toggle under 2 conditions.

  1. old school is the default.
  2. if any bugs or problems arise the toggle is removed and never seen again.

We already know from data mining that there is a toggle for classic graphics. No speculation needed.

If you look at the screenshots from the alpha you will notice that the graphics in max settings is still nowhere near bfa. The shadows etc are improved a lot but from whats seen, thats all that you will get. “Modern graphics”, as in basically bfa graphics you will not get. No bfa character models either. The people who want that will be disappointed.

And the “toggle” isn’t exactly what people might think it is. All it’s doing is setting the sliders to what the original graphics would be.
Toggling for “vanilla graphics” and “bfa graphics” is NOT in classic.

I see no problem with a graphics toggle. If someone has a modern beefed up PC and they want to have Classic look amazing, they shouldn’t be hindered by 2004 graphics. This is a modern recreation.

Thanks for clearing that up.

How dare you want a cosmetic option that doesn’t affect people who don’t want it. BABYRAGE

It seems like most peoples’ consensus is that it’s fine if it’s a toggle and isn’t the default, and doesn’t cause any issues with anyone else’s game. The only arguments I’ve seen against it were from a roleplayer’s perspective, and from puritans.

Great idea, no need to have a separate item in the BNet launcher for Classic, just a toggle between BfA and Classic. Those who want BfA models and animations can play BfA and those who want Classic models and animations can play Classic.

It’s a 14 year old game, guys. If you’re not alright with a 14 year old game showing its age then it’s probably not for you. People don’t still play old arcade games because they like the graphics. They do it because it’s fun.

I don’t want it because it would delay the release of Classic. Over half of the spells that were in Vanilla were removed or redone by the time time Cataclysm released. In BFA, all but only a few even still exist, let alone in their original forms. Blizzard will need to go back and update the graphics for all of those old spells. Adding god knows how much more development time.

Whew, you made up a lot of stuff in that post.

Not really, no. I can really only speak for Paladin and Warlock, but both classes have been gutted of all but our base spells since Vanilla.

Why do you think they would need to do this? The new models can use all the old spell animations just fine.

Thats not what the graphics toggle people are asking for, though. They basically want BFA graphics and animations on a toggle.

@Title, zero.

If there are people out there who essentially want a toggle, where you log in and its exactly like it was back in 2006, then you tick the box, wow reloads and all of a sudden it’s like you are playing bfa…with the crazy graphics and amazing level of detail, new characters models etc. That’s NOT going to happen lol. sorry to say…
You may as well stop your excitement for classic because that won’t happen.
