Celestial Vendor Changes

Blizzard has done it again… they have destroyed the Celestial Gear vendor by making it so that as a caster dps you can’t buy off-hands, pants, boots, or rings simply because they aren’t what Blizzard deems as “caster dps” gear. I get that as a caster dps it is not necessarily great to be wearing healer gear but if one is trying to raise their ilvl from a much lower ilvl piece of gear and wants to temporarily use healer gear to do so because that intellect on the gear will be far more beneficial to them than having a lower ilvl piece of gear, they should be allowed to purchase that piece of gear. Blizzard should not be so heavy handed with making players play the game how they want the players to play…

It’s literally a lower ilvl version of what drops in the raid. If an offhand doesn’t appear from the vendor, then it doesn’t drop from a boss in MSV. They (Blizzard) literally said that the token gear is not a full list. Most likely, 2 weeks after HOF we will start to see “lfr” equivalent from the vendor. t

It’s virtually free gear though so does it really matter? Upgrade is upgrade. You can get all your upgrades within a day, and that’s just fine. If there are specific missing pieces, then look at off pieces, or consider than perhaps clases were never balanced around LFR MSV.

If they wanted to clean it up to lessen the amount of scrolling between pages they should have instead added a filter.
Additionally, removing the OH for all but healers has increased the Fragment cost per Sha Crystal from 15 to 25, which is unfortunate. Luckily I was able to buy 3 before the changes were implemented.

I have no issue with it currently being only gear from MSV. My issue is that they have made it so that the gear that you are able to see is tied directly to your spec, meaning even if a healer piece of gear (i.e. the fan off-hand that drops in MSV) is better than what you currently have equipped due to the amount of intellect it gives, oh well, you still can’t see it to buy it.

Were you the one that was complaining about having to go through 10 pages of gear on the vendor?

Absolutely not. See I can do this little thing that it seems a lot of the human population seems to struggle with called “using my brain”. Its not hard to look at an item to make sure it’s what you want before you buy it.

oh god you’re one of those players who needs on spirit gear in heroics just to raise their ilvl.

God no, the plate gloves from celestial vendor. I don’t need on str dps gear unless it’s all mail/leather/cloth users. OS gear gets the greed.

It’s crazy to me that blood actually wants tank stats now, after in Cata it was to the point that they actually took dps tier over tank

Yeah it feels wierd putting gems with parry or dodge in gem slots and reforging into parry instead of haste.

I never drop below 100% doing dailies i feel like DK is way stronger in MoP then it ever was in cata.

It’s literally the only off-hand in the raid

It’s bis for caster dps because there is no other option.

Spirit gear transfers to spell hit in particular spirit gear is great for ele shamans for example. Oh god…you’re one of those healers that has an almighty complex but lacks the game knowledge to back it up? Color me unsuprised

Only for classes that have a healing spec, so for mages and warlocks it’s a dead stat

However the actual takeaway from this topic is that the spirit off-hand is one of only two options for off-hands above heroic dungeons, with the other requiring 5 inscription dailies that are probably going to darkmoon cards already anyway

the best part is that the vendor filter has been a thing forever in retail, every vendor that sells gear is automatically filtered to your class/spec so it’s not like theyd have had to make a brand new system.

Personally I think they did a good job spreading the gear around. I do however think the valor limit needs to be more generous as you run out of things to do, and gearing two specs as an example. If they doubled the valor limit I would be happy. Overall I really like the dungeons and vendor, plenty of ways to get gear, and I started super late in the X-Pac.

Riposte is glorious.

Yes it is love that free crit.

Also, as there was no caster dps (non-spirit) ring in MSV, yet 2 spirit rings, there is also again no non-spirit ring in ToES. So there is only 1 caster dps non-spirit ring across all 3 raids in this tier, but there are 3 spirit rings lol.

Obviously yes, you can “just get it as a drop” in a raid, but really we’re just wanting a way to be able to get slots filled out either without or before stepping into raid anyway. And without doing rep. They’re already fine with making it super easy to catch up gear-wise, why not just let us buy the spirit gear when it’s our only option.

There is another non-spirit ring available through Landfall rep now, at least
