Cchanging web browser

will internet explorer 11 work after discontinue support. how do you change a web browser?

Microsoft will likely switch to it’s newer browser, Edge. As far as switching browsers, you just install it, and the OS will ask which browser you want to be default.

Crap. I hate Edge. All the browsers I’ve used either are not my style or their popup blockers don’t block as good as IE11.

Guess I’ll be done with the forums and internet usage if Microsoft discontinues IE11.

Thanks for the info.

Technically if my search is correct, it’s already stopped supporting IE, but it still runs and it’s the only browser my work place allows most worksite operations under. You should be able to find another browser easy enough. Firefox, or Chrome from google. Just go to their websites, hit up a download, when it installs and runs for the first time it should ask if you want it to run default or not.

Your search is correct. I think they just to critical updates and that’s it. I think that has been happening for a while now.

I already tried those other browsers and didn’t like them. I am very specific about my browser and how it’s overall layout and appearance are. And Edge does not block popups as well as IE in my experience.

I just looked online and found a couple sites that compared the browsers and they all gave Edge a better popup rating then IE but I know for a fact that IE blocks just about everything while Edge lets things through and that is annoying.

I appreciate your help but I’ll just have to do some trial and error and hopefully find a compromise.

I already have firefox and microsoft edge my computer will not let me change browser. Will they change me over to Microsoft edge before they end explorer 11?

There’s a setting in most browsers to allow it to ‘check to see if it’s the default browser’. That’s what lets you choose which browser you want to use on a regular basis

Still does not work.

You’d probably be best asking for help over in the Tech Support forum or even with support from whichever browser company you’re looking to switch to.

nothing you have suggested has worked I at a am a loss lol. do not know what to do now.

Which version of Windows are you currently using?

Have you looked over the alternative browsers (ones outside of the mainstream choices)?

Okay, not sure if you tried changing the default browser through the Windows Settings menu or not, so wanted to post a step-by-step of the process just in case you hadn’t yet.

tried already did not work

Can you identify where you’re stuck, and how you’re determining it didn’t work?

had to call Microsoft and the way programs are can not change default browser from internet explorer 11.

thank U

That is indeed very odd. I also have version 11 on my computer. I can set it as default and then freely switch my default to any other browser on my computer.

But wish you the best of luck in resolving your browser issues.
