Tauren still waiting for their updated totems.
Lol my Shaman was originally a tauren, I forgot about that.
Shaman totems though do look cool, I like the kul tiran, orc, maghar, zandalari, vulpera, pandaren totems. They generally look cool. And I am excited to see all the new shamans and their totems one day. I love to see more added to my favorite class and how itās interpreted by other races.
Mostly interested in how they do elves. I hope they give them battlemage-esque totems and stuff like wands/wards/ or like a cage for an elemental heart/core or something to make them more of a elemental master (primalist).
Most, if not all, race/class combinations can be excused as āX has been around Y group for a while and decided to learn Z discipline.ā Itās really that simple.
I wrote you 3 paragraphs in that post specifically in response to the thing you quoted to me, how is that ignoring or cherry picking lol? You talk about how both sides are equally selfish but I donāt see how you can realistically make that argument.
Players telling there stories doesnāt mean they are suddenly the cultural norm in game. A LFD warlock doesnāt mean that suddenly LFD all forsake the light and turn into monsters. I donāt think wacky race/class combos should be catered to in lore, blizzard doesnāt need to add LFD warlock NPCs, or a crack team of mechagnome druids. But player characters arenāt poster children for the race they exist as, they are our characters with our own stories and ideas behind them, if I want to come up with a story as to why my character goes against typical norms, that affects you in exactly zero ways.
So Iām left wondering, again, how does another person playing something you donāt like affect your play in any meaningful way?
The worse thing is that, iirc, there are update Tauren Totems laying around inā¦I think it was Dalaran?
Anything is possible with Goblin Shaman. Goblins could open up an elemental contract firm and sell shamanistic powers
Could you explain this point? I donāt recall anything in Drustvar having to do with things I would consider a Warlock within WoW. They certainly had some variety of ādark magic,ā and I know the male gendered magic user opposite of a witch can be a warlock depending on the region. But nothing off the top of my head connects them to the closely demon related Warlocks that WoW has developed.
Goblin shaman make sense for a variety of reasons.
Mostly since I believe they descend from pygmies who are naturally shamans. They got uplifted my some rocks they mined the Kajaāmite.
Their relationship with shamanism changed to be more contractual/business like. They had the same connections and use it in a different social way.
And as for shamans in general they all donāt serve the elements the same way. One of my favorite shamans, Toshe Chaosrender says "Too often, we are mistaken for druidic types. perhaps thatās true for some shaman, but do not let yourself be plagued by the ignorant belief that we are always peaceful.
Nothing about what I do is harmonious. I command the elements to my will. There is nothing offered in return. I would have it no other way"
An awesome Taunka shaman I hope they make relevant someday. Hopefully in dragonblight. Shamans donāt worry about nature the shame way druids do.
Would be interesting if they introduced Taunka and Tuskar as the AR options
Yeah, they just donāt wanna step on elemental toes?
If anything, Drust are more like Dark/Death Druids, bear in mind that like Druids of the Flame Druidism doesnāt entirely deal with just Life, but the cycle as a whole.
Iām shocked half the Alliance ācanātā be Shaman, considering half the races roughly were made of ROCK in the beginningā¦
I agree, but itās probably because of fairness and then making paladins more of a thing for horde that limited shamans tbh. Since vanilla it was mostly restricted for gameplay mechanics.
Like mechagnomes I wanted to be shamans because they are mechanical and it would be cool to see them use lightning magic and throw lava at people.
But then blizzard would have to be fair and do that for paladins which I am sure is harder in lore. But blizzard said they are moving towards that. So I expect shamans/paladins to be bundled together.

Not sure if someone counted ā¦ not sure If I properly countedā¦ (sorry
Just give to the Alliance 1 more Druid Race combo and 3 shaman combos ā¦
3 paladin race /class combos for the Horde .
And itās fine
I am not opposed to more race / class combos opening up in the (hopefully near) future or even all race / class combos. Weāre not that different when it comes to wanting equality among our Thalassians, but I do acknowledge that Blood elves where there first and so if Void elves where to be given DH and void-themed Pala, I would not oppose Blood elves getting Druid in return. Wanting more stuff for my Void elf doesnāt mean I wish for the bane of other races PS: Blood elf Druids would be kinda cute.
Personally, I donāt feel that customizations for everything needs to be a thing.
First of all Iām sorry for criticizing you, obviously if this was in GD Iād just reply to you rather than make a thread. I understand where youāre coming from in valuing class and race fantasy and the unique traits of each. But I think you also understand that this view is not shared by everyone and that we find value in variety and in having more options. And I also think that āāforcingāā players to play specific race / class combos as it was in Vanilla and subsequent expacs just to try a class was too restrictive. And when we donāt know better, we do not ask for more. But once they do reach out and they give more, they need to be ready to go all the way. Itās just how human nature is. If you start a job, you better finish that job. When you start a job, you have to do it right, etc.
Unless they make an expansion that has storylines for why some of these races can be SOME of these classes, with racial class spell skins, then I will never condone some of the combos people want.
I understand where you come from too here. And I have felt this feeling of bad homogenization you guys are talking about when I played FF14. However, if done right, itās not necessarily a bad thing. For example I agree with the Class Skins idea. Most of us have a void-themed Void elf Paladin in mind when we suggest it. And when compared with some combos currently available (LFD DKs hello) they do not seem so impossible to implement. People have put up several reasons why they could be viable as well. But itās up to us to accept at least one of these reasons.
In a world where now Orc priests, Tauren Rogues, LFD DKs and Worgen Druids exist, anything is possible really. Not even Tauren Paladins are extreme now. But somehow people put their foot down when people suggest Draenei DHs, Warlocks, Void elf DHs and Paladins, and Blood elf Druids. Can I sincerely ask you one thing? Are you putting your foot down because you truly think itās lore impossible, or because you have some personal biases of your own?
First of all Iām sorry for criticizing you,
Thereās no reason that you, or anyone else should agree with everything I have to say on GD or on the council forums. At the end of the day weāre all just expressing our opinions.
I understand where youāre coming from in valuing class and race fantasy and the unique traits of each. But I think you also understand that this view is not shared by everyone and that we find value in variety and in having more options.
I do, but the reverse is also true. People who believe that every class/race combination should be available should understand that there are people like me who donāt feel the same way. If everyone has access to everything it doesnāt feel as special. I understand thatās not a popular opinion, but I wonāt change my opinion just because itās unpopular.
If you start a job, you better finish that job. When you start a job, you have to do it right, etc.
Thatās very subjective depending on your point of view. I could argue that the job is already done. Whoās to say who is right? You very well may be right, but so may I.
I will never ever agree to such ignorance towards lore and the schools of magic in this game, no matter how much people try to justify it.
Like when female night elves, after 10,000 years of devoted Elunarian priesthood, decided to try the druid thing? Or after 10,000 years of strict doctrine against arcane magic, they decided it is fine from now on because of an angry dragon?
Or how about when Blizzard homoginized the factions by giving the Horde paladins and the Alliance shamans?
What is really an insult to the lore is after these isolated factions unite into alliances, some for in excess of 20 years now, and there is little if any cross cultural class training. Let alone fringe elements like where all the satyrs in Teldrassil came from. But I guess we can just keep throwing seeds at them before forgetting about them forever.
Most, if not all, race/class combinations can be excused as āX has been around Y group for a while
Some, not all, yes. And again, this was addressed earlier. Iām not sure why people pick and choose what to argue about when, if they had paid better attention, would have seen that thereās more to this conversation.
Iāll link yet again what was said earlier:
But I donāt think either side is being selfish. I think thereās a compromise.
Some can be unlocked to some races, but not all. And those some should be done in a way that includes storyline and racial class spell skins. That gives more options to those that want them and also gives lore and visual aesthetics in a way that makes sense for those that donāt want culture ruined.
Please read that part and understand that there are ways to compromise on this that havenāt been ignored.
Nowā¦ as for Mifaā¦
I wrote you 3 paragraphs in that post specifically in response
And none of that even remotely took into account what I said. Read my quote above, which you specifically ignored when you first quoted me.
Why should I read your three paragraphs when you felt the need to skip over everything I said?
Some, not all, yes. And again, this was addressed earlier. Iām not sure why people pick and choose what to argue about when, if they had paid better attention, would have seen that thereās more to this conversation.
I didnāt want to read all 277 posts in this threadā¦ o.0 Donāt have to be so hostile. We usually get along.
I didnāt want to read all 277 posts in this thread
Which I understand. Itās why I linked it.
Donāt have to be so hostile.
Apologies if it came across that way. It wasnāt my intention. I was more grumbling about others who have quoted my later response with that quote in it, skipping past what I said, just to force an argument that didnāt need to occur. It wasnāt directed at you. Itās why I said āpeople.ā
But Iām sorry if my frustrations came out wrong. I wasnāt upset nor did I ever wish to come across that way.
For me, thatās part of a racial fantasy as well. Certain races simply cannot be certain classes and I have never had a problem with that, because that is part of the MMO fantasy in my eyes.
And this is a battle you are going to lose. Blizzard already said that they want to open up more druids, paladins and shaman to other races but due to racial assets those classes need they probably wonāt until there is a reason to (Expansion theme).
With that aside there is absolutely no reason why monk should not be available to LFD, Goblin and Worgen. Just allow this already.
And this is a battle you are going to lose.
It has nothing to do with winning or losing a battle. Itās just about expressing our opinions.
It has nothing to do with winning or losing a battle. Itās just about expressing our opinions.
Fair but others here act like this is just something that will not happen. Itās going to over time lol.
Once blizzard allows said combos these people just move on to the next set of things that they think players should not enjoy.
