True but it seems clear that blizzard does not want this. To seem that seems to be the purpose of the change away from valor.
The crests should be BoA; I should be able to mail all these useless aspects, wrym and drake crests on my main to my alts to boost their hero/champion gear. Being able to change tiers at a high cost is fine as well.
In under a month people were able to hit 443 and completely finish gearing so frankly all bets are off
they still have to get the gear to drop, so it isnât like Iâm boosting the character for free if I send an alt all my crests. Itâs just cutting out the gross chore of needing to do 11âs-15 on my alt to upgrade their hero gear because only wrymâs drop from 11s-16 but my alt has already eclipsed them.
Whelp to Drake sure. Any higher? Hell no. I will agree to make any of them boa though.
I donât understand what you donât understand.
I will use Diablo 4 as an example at it has a very clean/straightforward/understandable set of gear bottlenecks, but the same concept applies to WoW.
In Diablo 4, there is a dungeon called a capstone dungeon. Your goal, as a player, is to beat that capstone dungeon. The game explicitly tells you. You are not supposed to stay in normal difficulty forever. Eventually your goal is to clear that capstone, which is fun content, but also a larger test of your ability/character and in doing the content you unlock nightmare difficulty which allowed access to a much higher band of ilvls ofgear. No one who plays is meant to stay in Normal difficulty forever.
This is the same concept in WoW, but your capstones are the âthree pillars of endgameâ. Itâs very straightforward and obvious. Itâs not about not having gear, itâs about you as a player moving forward. Move forward, achieve greater challenges, and feel a larger sense of satisfaction in overcoming those challenges by receiving greater rewards.
Yes, Blizzard giving everyone Shako is technically feasible but the thrill of overcoming the Pinnacle boss would be diminished diminished somewhat if it wasnât a gatekeeper of some of the most exciting loot. Same applies in WoW.
You might as well be speaking Martian, on this forum.
the problem is this tier is an absolute joke on most difficulties, with some mythic fights being complete pushovers.
IMO there is nothing wrong with making the crest system completely fluid because one still has to do the appropriate content to get hero gear. This is a .1 patch but it feels like an end expac patch because of how easy it is to get gear.
Some person who only does WQ can have 78 aspect crests for all I care, they canât do anything with it until they do content that drops gear for it.
And then you hit Rashok and the tier starts.
rashok is heavily nerfed with gear and thatâs saying a lot in a tier where 442 is the new normal
Honestly I donât want to kill rares or do world quests. Iâm glad Iâm not incentivized to do that this patch.
Raiders do not get to keep running raids to get more crests so no, just like hitting valor cap youâll hit crest cap in m+
Whatever happens, it wont be changing until S3, iirc blizz stated multiple times they are taking notes to see how it pans out and will make adjustments next season.
Iâd like to see 15 crests upgrade to a single fragment of the next highest crest.
1000 crests should be the turnin for the next higher crest. Ensures that a fair exchange is made for investment of time.
Work at it you will get there
I mean, Iâm not sure what other use they could make for them.
They could just make them account wide. Iâd almost rather that.
Iâd also like to use crests in junction with vault tokens to buy loot I keep watching go to other players. Not that that creates any use for lower crests.
Excuse me sir/madam, you appear to be posting reasonable, logical and rational arguments. Here on GD, we take severe umbridge to that sort of behavior. Please standby while the usual cadre of trolls masquerading as the forum majority come online to bait you into getting a forum suspension.
Thank you and have a pleasant day.
I dont agree with that person and everyone knows that the only logical arguments on GD are the ones that agree with me.

In terms of âfairnessâ, I would generally rate the Crest system much higher than VP.
The only thing that mattered in the VP system was the rating for upgrades. Once you had that, you just spammed Court of Stars or whatever dungeon had your OP item and carried people in weenie keys for VP. With Crests, you have to continuously run content at a higher level with the only reason to run keys below your level being for Wyrm Crests (which is better than the 2-5 VP spam of previous seasons when VP is uncapped IMO).
The bigger problem is with Crest economy, 10 a week per crest level is insane when VP cap functionally was like a 10th of that, with 1-2 gear upgrades a week compared to Crests potentially 20. Either upgrades should cost more (potentially different costs per slot like how VP was?) or reduced in weekly cap.
Crafting gear is too strong though, it feels pretty weird being like week 2 and the only weapon upgrade existing for me being off Mythic Sarth.
They should be able to be used to get the higher version. Even if it costs a lot. I personally think it should work the same as the fragments. 15 fragments makes 1 crest. 15 crests make 1 of the next one up crest
The purpose of having an upgrade system in the first place is to allow you to upgrade the gear you have by repeating the same content, either to provide consolation for bad luck or a feeling of progression, not to keep casual players in as low a place as possible.
But with this many bands and currencies, why even have an upgrade system at all? Why not have all gear drop at its max upgrade status? Or why not have a single upgrade currency for all PvE gear, such as Valor?
Well we do have a system to upgrade gear. They just have bands of upgrades. And the point of an upgrade system is to give you a sense of power progression even if you donât get a loot drop.
