Catalyst Failed (can a moderator lock this ****)

Lmao I was just saying the same thing to my guild mate.

We all scoffed and called them ridiculous when they made that statement… but idk man, they may have been on to something.

why would you have to exit the game to go on the forums?

lmao yes ty

Every slot can be tier, but only helm/shoulder/chest/hands/legs count toward the bonus. The rest of the slots are just cosmetics.

I think we’re conflating the tier set with the set bonus. And by “we”, that’s the royal “we”. I read the articles (plural) that explained how it would work well in advance.

Some of it was in the game, trade chat, about 2-3 times I saw it.

Had to happen to someone and unfortunately you are that someone. now because you posted it and let everyone know you are an idiot, people will call you an idiot.

the sheer amount of forum entertainment the creation catalyst has given us will warm my heart for weeks to come.

it’s been like the Jerry Springer Show - Warcraft Edition

You did get a tier piece. It just wasn’t a tier piece that had a bonus attached to it.

Your fault for now reading and/or even LOOKING at the item before you made it. You get a preview window and would have clearly seen there was no set bonus.

Thats a little harsh. OP made an honest mistake, doesn’t make them an idiot.

As long as they don’t go full Karen, I’m inclined to be somewhat sympathetic.

their responses and reaction here though, does.

an honest mistake? when they had 2 set already and tried to make a tier set bonus out of boots? nope, an idiot

I think the issue here is people had this misconception that any non tier item could be made into tier pieces. Considering the Unity legendary can be crafted into any slot, people assumed the QoL from the catalyst was any slot can be made into tier. I personally go to WoWhead and the PTR for information most the time. A lot of players don’t.

It’s unfortunate that people weren’t seeing the catalyst as only bad luck protection, but also as a way to rearrange slots to fit in legendaries that use tier spots, like my mage uses the hand slot for her legendary. I think people really thought this was more than just a catch up system.

Tbh, I didn’t read the whole thread, I just keep seeing the type and this was the one closest to the top. If they went full Karen, then that turns a sympathetic mistake into a laughable tragedy.

You know how item restore will give you back an item you DE and take the mats out of your bag? Maybe they could have something like that. Use an item restore on the item and get it back at the cost of the tier produced. No ticket or anything required.

Yea people just keep repeating the same thing over and over again, so this causes me to do the same

Blizzard put in another system, and after waiting for the primary timegate, the secondary timegate can be wasted by using it in the intended way without checking whether it has been purposely coded to allow you to waste the tier creation cooldown on creating non-tier items.

You can say “Hehe why would the OP just blindly trust it would make tier items without double-checking!” but I have a better question…

"Why would Blizzard add in a way to accidentally waste the cooldown? Does that add anything to the game? It’s already making, I would guess quite a few, players very upset… for exactly what gain? And if it doesn’t have any purpose, and it doesn’t improve the game, why did something that makes the game worse for some people for no value go live?

Did you look at the piece it was being converted into?

THis has to be a troll thread because anyone who is saying that that they put an item in that is not one of the 5 pieces towards the bonus and says it showed what the bonuses are has to be lying.

Yes once again for the 6012034190i30291389021213873897’th time

It’s not a waste. It’s a way to get any piece of tier. Not all tier has set bonuses.

The basic order (for me)

  1. Complete 4 PC.
  2. Optimize 4 PC slots.
  3. Optimize item level
  4. Finish Transmog sets

Now, everyone will have their personal take on what order to do those in, but the catalyst is the way.

Your logic is wrong.

You GOT a tier item. There are more than 5 items in a tier set.

What you didn’t get was an item with the TIER SET BONUS. That only comes from the helm, shoulders, chest, gloves, and leg slot.

The OP (and others) GOT a tier item. They just didn’t get an item that ALSO was a +1 to unlocking the tier set bonus.

Shame on Blizzard perhaps for allowing any/all tier pieces to count, but it isn’t like this info hasn’t been all over the interwebs for months now.
