Cataclysm Timewalking Difficulty

Hey all,

I just did a few of these dungeons and they are extremely overtuned. People getting one shot from trash mobs, AOE wiping out the entire group. I haven’t seen anything like this in the last few weeks of doing these timewalking dungeons. Anyone else noticed the tuning of these being a bit over the top?

its been like this since its started…why I dont do Cata dungeons i do the raid to get quest done and chest then thats it…cata dungeons are a pain

And how did you come to this conclusion? The patch is a week away.

In all the time I have done TW Cataclysm time, walking has always been the best week. The other TW’s you didn’t have to worry, but Cata it is a thing of beauty. Also, I noticed when running the other time walking dungeons on my level 11 nothing poses a threat, but during cata there are things that can just up and one shot me for full health bar.

The sudden increase in difficulty?
It seems pretty rational to deduce they increase it just before a patch so they don’t forget about it.
It’s something that doesn’t really affect anything to do just before release

The enemies do more damage or the mechanics are most intense out of all the expansions?

I don’t TW much outside of leveling alts 70-80

That’s not how things work. Blizzard either updates stuff with patches, or they forget about it.

They don’t preemptively update one particular part of an event and ignore the rest just in case they forget to update it when the actual update comes out.

And considering this is one thread about Cata TW being off, and not dozens, it’s probably that nothing has changed OP just is misremembering or doing something different.

You work for Blizzard and have intimate knowledge of their processes?
I was just coming from a place of making an educated guess.
Like I said, I don’t TW much, but if it suddenly got more difficult just before a major patch those are the dots I’d connect
Maybe I misread it and OP meant cata has always been overtuned compared to other expansions?

BC dungeons, WotLK dungeons and MoP dungeons used to be insanely fast… You blink and they’re done.

Now… A party full of level 80s can literally wipe to bosses.

You don’t need to work for Blizzard to know how updating the game works.

It’s more likely that OP forgot Cata TW hits differently. Even Firelands Timewalking (Ragnaros in particular) is more difficult than the other Timewalking raids. You can actually wipe on Ragnaros if people ignore mechanics or your group’s dps sucks and you can’t push Rag to skip the mechanic people are bad at.

They’re perfectly fine if you’re not a moron and pace them properly after dying to a few overpulls.

I just did some twing dungeons to finish getting my current alt to 80. I was wearing appropriate quest greens. Nobody in the group was overpowered. Everything melted and the trash and bosses weren’t threatening.

Is this the obligatory “TW dungeons are overtuned” post?

Certain debuffs/dots hurt when your lv 80 and tickle when your lv 14.
Its how it goes.

Just did a Blackrock Caverns on my ~620 prot warrior. There was more group damage than in TBC and WotLK timewalking dungeons, but didn’t feel much different than it’s been in the past. Cata dungeons have always felt more like actual dungeons in TW, than the faceroll nonsense the rest of them are.

Still can’t pull those two fire elementals before the drakonid boss at the same time, though.

I queued up for a Heroic thinking it was TW and it felt about right for a normalized TW. Then I queued up for actual TW…

Yeah what the heck? Admittedly the other weeks of TW have been a breeze, but this? This is too much.
