Cataclysm talent trees are awful. Hopefully we don't get those

https://rpgworld.altervista.org/talentcata/eng/

Many of the talents are either merged or removed. Holy priest, for example, only has 37 total talent points in the Holy tree, of which 31 are mandatory before you can go into Disc or Shadow. Hopefully if we are moving forward with Classic after Wrath is over, we get better talent trees than this.

I would rather they not start messing around with the talent trees.

Classic+ all the way! My vote anyway.

Personally i love the cata talent trees and their design.

Interesting to see the WOTLKC player base increasingly accepting the idea that they’re not only getting Cata Classic, but that they’re going to continue playing into and through it. As soon as I get Bane of the Fallen King and possibly getting my Guild mate Shadowmourne, I’m done.

Some players dropped off at different points of the retail progression. That shouldn’t differ with Classic.

Talents that were like “increases frost damage by 2%” in the frost mage tree have just been baked into the class instead of just being a mandatory talent point. At least these talent choices are mildly interesting.

Exactly why you should be promoting the idea of Classic+ then. Otherwise you’re stuck with awful cata or awful retail.

and those talents could be skipped to pick up survivability somewhere else in the tree.

Everyone currently uses the same cookie cutter talent trees, whether it be for pve or pvp, and they all pick up the +2% damage, don’t act like they don’t.

Not true. There are points that shift around. You might, but not everyone.

Well, if you like the Cata talents so much, then I hope you find what you are looking for in Cata.

I know better, so I’m not.

Enjoy not taking +damage talents as a damage dealer then idk what to tell you. Enjoy not taking +healing as a healer, just to prove me wrong. Why would that tank take the +stam talent that’d be silly.

Yeah the pruning of talent trees in Cata was a terrible aspect of the expansion. I HATED that you had to invest all the way to the top talent in a tree before you could take talents in another. They really abandoned class design and switched to spec design from that expansion on out.

I like to do a lot of battlegrounds. If i’m facing a bunch of elemental shaman lately, maybe I will spec into 10% reduced spell damage taken instead of increased armor. Maybe I’ll take extra slowing power on my frostbolt instead of hit. On my fire mage, I might swap around talent points if i’m finding myself having mana problems.

I like the flexibility.

The title of the post is that the cata talents are awful, lol.

I know, wasn’t directed at you; it was directed at those who favor them.

All in all, they weren’t that bad, they were just too restrictive for what we were used to in pre-Cata WoW.

Which is why I won’t play Cata without LFR or RDF, the talent system isn’t enough to attract me to it.

Lich King here, I’m playing without RDF, because the talents make it worth it to log into and play.

I definitely know I log in every day to look at my 2/3 Suppression in the talent tree.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Well now you can stare at the Cata talents too when they come out.

If Blizzard wants my money they will reboot Classic in an interesting way, at the very least let me play my Classic vanilla characters in Era and stop pretending they deleted our ****.

But if they don’t do anything that I want to pay money for, I am gone for other adventures. I have better things to do than continue to pay Blizzard for a game I don’t like while trying to convince them to make it better.

If the next step is cataclysm, I am done with Classic. It was a good run. I’ll be laughing on the sidelines watching it crash and burn, which it surely will with cata classic.
