Cataclysm: Redoing every expansion is Lazy

I didn’t hate Cata. However, I hated the Azeroth destruction and I don’t really think Deathwing’s story was worth it. Arthas was a hard act to follow, but a pissed off dragon hardly got one’s blood boiling.

I would like to preserve Azeroth before the destruction and still be able to play Wrath.

I liked the Cata expansion areas very much. I also liked the dungeons and the raids.

But material changes were made to classes and talents in Cata that I would prefer to remain separate from the old way.

That’s the reason why they don’t ask.

People in the extremes don’t matter. They’re not going to ask WoW haters or WoW lovers their opinion because whatever Blizzard doesn’t won’t change the players investment in the game.

It’s the people who come and go and could potentially come again that matter.

Most likely true…why give a*t about players who have history with the game and know what works and what doesn’t.

Just like before SL launched and everybody playing the Alpha / Beta were telling them …hey this isn’t gonna be good if you do this…and they did it anyway.

A lot of the dev team that made Cata is still here right now so I am 100% willing to bet that they will make a Cata Classic very soon and are going to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars into nonstop back to back advertising for Classic Cata and when so many subs come back, Blizzard will be like “Yea see. Proof everyone does like Cata more”

And they will do all that after going out of their way to not promote Classic everything else in the slightest. Because Cata is right around when Activision began to start their full merge.

You already have it.
Go back to Cata content and level lock yourself.

Blizz can’t keep servers up. Yet we want them to create new content. Any new content for blizzard will be retail-like and have horrible waits between content. The nice part about classic is how fast the content gets released.

i came back for wrath and i’ll be gone if they choose to go cata, funny enough i got the survey. I was hoping for a osrs route instead of going to the expansion that almost 3 million people quit then the other expansion almost 3 million quit and eventually wod where pretty much almost everyone quit.

Then again cata is no work for more money. So you know which one this zombie company is going to go for.

Id prefer a season of Mastery standpoint after Wrath. Lets say as an example classic raids all get buffed to ICC levels for 4 months. Then BC for 4 months, then pre ICC WotLK for the final 4 months. That gives a whole new year of still being wrath essentially.

Im not opposed to Cata content however i will 100% stop playing if they remove the talent trees (balancing the trees is fine by me) but removing them is instant unsub. Id also like to see them make a few balance changes as well, that being a buff to sub rogues, frost mages, arms warriors, bm hunters, blood dps, and frost tanking.

Thing is, is cata wont offer alot to alot of the playerbase… What you didnt raid in cata so you wanna do pre nerf sinestra? Ya, dont wanna do that again. What about Rag? Nah i already progged that… kinda the same thing with wanting classic in general. Except that was nostalgia. Cata starts the idea of hundreds of boss attempts. The average classic player will struggle and do normals just like back then. Granted the average wow player is much better than then… I dont think the average classic player will kill sinestra or even Cho gal on heroic for a while. And thats just the first tier. Dont get me started on Dragon soul…

I would love seeing cata without the 4.3 changes. Transmog and LFR. Don’t get me wrong transmog is fun, but giving players that much control over cosmetics destroys incentive. People used to get excited about tier. Now they barely even make class sets anymore because they know they can get away with it because of transmog. It’s fine if you like transmog. I do too. But you have to admit there are tradeoffs.

You can play Cata now

Maybe you have something there.

Tier was always for raiders. Nothing in the overworld ever required tier gear (even world bosses). Transmog injected fun into this game and I’m all for that.

I dont want to.

Lot of people forget how bad wotlk was compared to classic, tbc, and cata. Wotlk was the unfortunate middle school xpac between “classic” and “retail” the only thing it had was the classic feel to gameplay but before and after were overall better for each reason.
The past xpacs were genuine old school and rough around the edges and cata had refined rotation but lost its classic feel. Wotlk was the worst of everything overall. PvP at its worst without bringing anything good to the table with unkillable healers and DKs. at least cata had mastery and added unique qualities to picking a spec.
Bottlenecking talents was the worst trait of late cata but people forget that was the end of the xpac, but players flame you for not picking talents from the “best specs” on wowhead anyways so that doesn’t really matter anymore. Not a popular opinion now but will be in 3-6 months. Wotlk started the daily grind to stay relevant, bad pvp/pve balance and recycled content on day one with a few glimmers of greatness between the cracks granted the great things were awesome

I couldn’t disagree more with everything you said. The only thing I’ll give is arenas and healers being silly. Wrath was the ideal blend of classic and modern, it wasn’t worse for it. This is why we all have opinions though.

I honestly hope blizzard doesn’t keep wrath servers just because they wouldn’t let me stay on TBCC servers.

But I’m for legacy servers overall; classic, tbcc, wrath, cata, so on and so forth.

If it makes you feel any better I wish you had gotten your tbc servers too, even if I would not touch tbc ever again.

For sure that’s what makes it fun to enjoy each xpac, i remember hating wotlk back then and pre-patch is reminding me why. I’m hoping I’ll be wrong but it seems to be the same story again. I remember loving classic and cata but no so much the between because wotlk never really fulfilled pve or pve properly for what I loved about WoW

I always said killing Arthas was when WoW ended. Cata was the “WoW2” everyone always was clamoring about.
