Now that we have seen surveys out about cataclysm, I wanted to make this post. I don’t want cata classic. The thing I did not like about cataclysm cannot be fixed. I did not like the expansion theme. I did not like the rework for my main class (ret) and some other small things, but more than anything, the reason I don’t want cata classic is that just continuing every expac is very lazy.
What are we going to do, replay EVERY wow expansion in order with #somechanges? Why? Eventually we are just going to get to retail lite and at that point why even have 2 versions of the game.
I want to see the cut content, where is the scarlet crusade raid in wrath, the left out zones of vanilla and tbc. I want new things actually developed in the classic format. I like the classes of wrath, some tuning could be done sure but I like the design. I’d rather see new content and play the classes we have through it than just relive the entire life cycle of the game over again.
The only way the current trajectory would be worth it is if we DID get cut things. Where is the Shattrath raid in WOD, where is netherstorm (Farahlon)? And then you would still have to make new content.
What is the end game of redoing every expac? We are going faster than the retail cadence so when does it stop? Do you really want to stop at cata instead of wrath if that is the plan? Why? I just want to know the reasoning here.
TLDR: Let’s go the OSRS route of new content with the classic vibe.
This doesn’t even make sense, I don’t want OSRS and never said I did. I said the OSRS route. If you need to be informed, OSRS is the old version of the game which they now make new content for instead of just rereleasing what they did.
Yea i hated cata. I was hoping on classic plus after wotlk like old school runescape.
Classic is special and i honestly think flying and lfr and all thise little things added over time changed the game for better for some people but for some made it feel worse. To me retail now just feels like a souless grind it doesnt even feel like a mmorpg, everything has a queue or a system it might as well be a offline game. You could put bots into lfr or dungeon finder and people wouldnt even notice.
Makes me want to quit classic and unsub again know that i know we are just going to go the retail route in classic.
They’ll do a progression. I’d play cata, firelands was amazing, there was plenty of good with cata just nothing to do outside of raids bgs and heroics and raid finder is why people hated it.
Personally I disliked the theme of the entire expansion minus firelands and did not like the class changes to my then main. RBGS were a positive but I disliked almost all other aspects.
You don’t want it but they are going to do it because other people want it. Its also as you said the lazy thing to do which is exactly what Activision execs want. Low cost and high profits.
I’ll just go play pservers if they ever decide to go the cata route. Wanted classic so I could play classic. Not a return of every expansion noone ever asked for. What’s going to happen when they get to WoD? They’re just going to wipe out the population of classic the more and more expansions they release.
as it stands Dragonflight classes look far superior than mop. So i dont understand why people want MOP so bad, do you want to play it for the raids? Do you want to do the legendary cloak questline again or what?
WotLK was the end of the Classic-era. World changed afterward, design “philosophy” changed (being generous for use of the term), it’s just really, in retrospect, not the same game after WotLK. No thanks.
I don’t see the point in a Cata server, as my reasons for wanting Classic, in the first place, was to play pre-Cata old world. I can just play Retail, for that garbage.
