Cataclysm is already dead

Yea definitely skip on mop, like Cata. Still burned on the fact they never kept servers up for the different eras

And the Player Base had been saying this since they started to roll out Wrath – that they needed to stop at wrath or make a loop of fresh to Wrath and Stand Alone options for TBC and Wrath… no one wants Cata and Mop for more than a month…

Wrath realms are more than likely coming. They already planned TBC servers, so just give it time.

I’m one of those players that asked Blizzard for Cata, and I’m glad they released it. It’s been so much fun playing with all my friends and guildies. And I can’t wait for MoP

Well classic ended at WoTLK Cata is not Classic

It has 120k active raiders, so the numbers could be slightly higher but for brevity sake, its 120k down from 300k at the launch, numbers have tripled since release of firelands and many servers are doing quite fine.

You’re biased against Cataclysm and that’s fine man, you do you, but the game will continue to succeed with or without you regardless

There is more differences between TBC and Vanilla, then there is between Cata and Wrath, in-fact cata is basically Wrath 2.0, truly if you want to go down the fundamentally changed expansion, it was TBC.

if Cata is dead with 120k raiders then what is SoD with 80k and Era with only 17k?

just scrap SoD and Era and work on the game version that has more people and give the players what we want

Yall are 100% trolling. Faerlina is packed at peak hours …when there’s fresh content. That said, here is why it’s less of a population than it could be:

  • too many versions of Classic
  • overlapping content release cycles (nothing gets room to breathe, fresh Cata content gets like 1-3 weeks of being the new flavor before something else comes out)
  • refusal to fix bugs (which number in the zillions)

the big difference is the World!!! Classic was the OG world in cata the world changed that is why cata is not classic!!!

That’s subjective, in terms of what makes the game “classic”, that’s fair enough if its your opinion, but the fundamentals of the game and how its played changed far more in TBC than other games, then again at Legion.

So you can argue Classic is

Vanilla only.
Vanilla to Legion

Lol the devs even said it when they launched Classic that the old world is what made classic classic!!!

Blizzard has no choice but to release new expansions; the WotLK population was in steep decline with the draught that existed after ICC/RS, too.

If they did nothing, it’d probably be in an even worse state than it is today because of boredom / everyone’s in BiS / legitimately nothing to do. Look at the IF Pro trends from 2023. It wasn’t good.

You left out the part where the game bled out over half the players since Cata launched, and even more since WoTLK.

Everyone forgot wow classic players are not good. Heroic raiding is hard. Plenty of people struggled in AQ and Naxx. Did everyone forget what happened in T5 before they gutted Lady Vashj? Pre-nerf ulduar lasting for like 6 months did even more damage.

The vast majority of the retail population does LFR and then grinds M+ because spamming the same dungeon over and over is more rewarding and easier than learning mythic raids.

This is only the case towards the end of Wrath, before then we had no heroic difficulty outside of 5 mans.

Ulduar hard modes, but also talking about cata. Turns out most wow classic players can’t do heroic.

Middle, towards the end, almost the same thing. I was referring to Ulduar.

I love seeing the arguments about 40 mans being hard when we all know that the only hard thing with 40 man is dealing with the other 39 people.

I mean, ulduar was the 2nd tier, launching 4 months into the expansion (january) and lasting as the primary raid until, technically october, since togc drops were mostly side-grades or downgrades. though togc did launch in june so.

The only hard thing in 40 mans is finding 39 people you can tolerate. And yet… so many guilds still struggled in aq, naxx, even bwl.

Probably because they try to speed run em right from the get go because thats what everyone else is doing.

No, people just really suck. Even my guild that mostly cruised through everything from BWL to our eventual roster boss disband in ToGC had healers that couldn’t handle four horsemen rotations. The solution legitimately was just to have the dps do more dps and cleave the first 2 horsemen so that healers wouldn’t have to rotate between all 4. Because they couldn’t do it.

Oh wow, yeah fair.
