Cata servers should start fresh with no transfers or boosts

Hear me out. A big part of Cataclysm was the revamped zones and quests in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. A person continuing on from WotLK or boosting a new level 80 misses out on all that. While a person could create a new character to level up, they would be at a tremendous disadvantage over the people going from level 80-85.

Remember how much fun Vanilla Classic was with everyone leveling up at the same time? No max levels camping low level zones. No crazy amount of gold circulating in the economy. A fresh start Cata server could be this all over again.

While I’m not usually an advocate of fresh servers, I think it makes sense for Cata. I would actually play this version, whereas I probably wouldn’t if it was just a continuation of level 80-85.

Cataclysm is different enough that it might as well be a different game. Let’s treat it that way.

Cataclysm got me to quit once. I did come back later, and leveled a toon through the revamped zones. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. There’s a chance I’d progress from 80-85 on my toons… But not 1-85.

I’m actually not against this one. Some people wanted us to start over with crusade/wrath, something very stupid. But it’s not as stupid with cataclysm because it’s basically a whole new game anyway. Everyone wanting “fresh” realms can have them right there with cataclysm.

I do. I’d be happy with fresh each expansion for Classic, personally.

Exactly, Classic would be Vanilla through WotLK servers, and then a fresh start for Cata and beyond. This way no one is forced to progress past WotLK, but those who want to will all start on equal footing.

i think, it would’ve been much better if every expansion in classic started fresh.

blizzard should’ve left classic60 servers as it is without advancing them to tbc, while releasing New whole servers just for TBC-C at tbc release, same goes for wotlk-c they should leave current tbc-c servers as they are and make whole new servers for wotlk-c. (ofc no transfer allowed from old servers and new one)

fresh start for everyone is awesome nice & fun experience.

I just don’t want to replay the Cata questing experience, any of it, from 1-85.

If I couldn’t take my character that I’ve played since the release of classic into Cataclysm then I’d just quit then and there.

I loved Cata. I think this is an interesting idea, and I would CONSIDER playing fresh cata servers but I just don’t know how dedicated I could be.

Mostly because I’ve already put a lot of effort into multiple characters during TBC in preparation for Wrath. I have multiple max levels with maxed out professions and I plan to level even more characters in Wrath.

It would be a very hard sell to me, but not impossible I guess. I think I would just rather them make fresh servers for each expansion as the newer one releases. Ex: When main servers progress to Wrath we get fresh TBC servers. And then fresh Wrath servers when Wrath progresses to Cata, etc.

If Classic servers keep going, I’ll very likely skip playing WOD. So during that time I could be playing a TBC, Wrath or Cata server until Legion comes. I think that could be a cool idea.

hmmm… hard pass. lol.

I quite liked 80-85. vashj’ir was really unique. Questing in the vanilla zones since cata has never interested me. Probably have never levelled higher than 20 (the old lvl 20). It’s just way too different for me.
If I can’t take this character into cata then I just wouldn’t play.

NTY, having fresh servers are fine, forcing fresh is not.
