Destro lock is a shadow of it’s former self this expansion. The spec’s talents + mastery are arguably weaker than the talent tree in wotlk at 80. This is evident by the fact that all of your spells pretty much do the same damage at 80 as they do at 85. In the spirit of some changes, here are a couple small changes that could be made to make the spec fun to play and still nowhere near the realm of overpowered.
- Make Immolate undispellable or punish dispels: The whole kit revolves around having immolate up on your target, and being completely stonewalled by any healer with half a braincell is most of what makes this spec completely ineffective in PvP.
- Have Backdraft increase haste instead of reduce cast time, and have it buff immolate: A small dps increase that won’t break the spec in PvE, allowing the 30% bonus to stack with your haste effects, as well as buffing immolate’s DoT damage to keep it competitive with Affliction’s eradication output.
- Have Chaos bolt actually work: I’m fine with chaos bolt not pumping out MoP levels of damage, but have it atleast go through absorbs like the tooltip says. IE, have it outright kill rogues and fire mages that would normally proc cheat death/cauterize. Or even taking it further and have it go through ice block and bubble.
I know it’s likely no changes will be made, but considering they made changes to ferals in wrath , and they’re one of the best dps makes me hopeful. Plus, you could probably make all of these changes and the spec would still be bad in PvP and still the worst warlock spec in PvE.
