Casual players aren’t asking to be handed 226 gear because that’s not what they want. They want a progression path to 226 gear in the content they enjoy.
Why do you care if a casual player have to grind for months to get that 226 gear? Let them play with powerful gear for a little bit before the next patch.

If mythic gear was as easy to get as just doing a few WQs raiders would pretty much be forced to run them, just like a repeat of BFA, and honestly? That sounds awful, and even more maintenance for alts

You can play with that gear. Wait for that that content to be a patch or two old when 226 is more easily obtainable. That way you can causally for in an solo old raids a couple of expansions later.

The problem for casual players this time around is that Blizzard made the good rewards (the covenant gear) too easy and too fast to get.
Had the covenant gear taken 5-6 months to get (like progression raiding), then casual players would still have things they’re working towards.

My favorite part of all of this is that you can’t even do “normal” DUNGEONS at level 30 without being kicked without non-quest gear.
How the HELL is anyone supposed to get to 200? Keep the pressure off people. It’s still a game.

Ew, raiders so obsessed with what casuals get. Gross.

Raiders really don’t give a damn what “casuals” get, it’s the other way around: casual players seeing what everyone else gets and saying “I want that” but not taking into account what everyone had to do in order to get it.

Their progression can end at doing WQs or they can obtain more power through other means. It’s up to the player, where their progression ends.
If you’re killing moths all day or training with the Kyrians on how to fly, that’s your choice.

Or, and hear me out here, from one casual to another:
I don’t care about having 226 gear. I don’t do Rated PvP. I don’t Mythic Raid. At any point I can scoot into a Heroic Raid PuG or guild and do well enough to earn a spot for progression for some solid gear.
I still don’t understand how people do it without getting paid. The gear just isn’t worth the headache. People faction change when they Mythic Raid. People change their race for certain raids to cheese the honestly way too audacious raid mechanics that grow more and more outrageous over the years.
PvP gearing, though… I can see how someone can sink in deep into that and no life their way to 226. That seems like fun if you got a goon of a friend to grind out Arenas with and strategize with over voice.
I do miss being able to keep pace with raiders as a Mythic+ runner, but eh, I’m over it.
Roll on an RP server for the true casual end game. You can go DAYS without worrying about your gear score. You can get into a guild and make friends without even GLANCING at Recount meters.
It’s… It’s fun. It’s one of the last places fun still exists in this game.

Just spam random RBG’s for like 2 weeks and you are geared beyond geared. Almost as geared as mythic players. For almost no effort. It couldnt get any easier. Does it need to change? Yes. Might want to take advantage of it while you can.

Not really. Casuals are doing what raiders do all the time, talk about what’s motivating/demotivating for them. Raiders feel the need to barge in and dictate who deserves what and for how much effort, self assigned arbiters of gamewide loot distribution.
There really does seem to be a misguided conflation of their progression/skill/dedication in game with their material value to the company. It seems to me the needs of the many should count for more.
I can see their legitimate concerns, but a system could be designed that would have no “demotivating” impact on raiding while still improving casual progression/motivation/engagement.

The re-new valor system will fix your concerns OP. Take it one step at a time, run the mythics your are geared for. Couple runs a day whenever you get the chance.
30 mins per run, you could probably do 1-2 per day or even every other day if you are strapped for time. You will progress, running higher keys even on a casual time frame.
You will be fine.
i want to see where any raider has ever dictated who gets what gear in this game. what influence does a raider have on the decisions blizzard makes? no top end world first raider is advocating for blizzard to halt progression for more casual players.
like playing the victim is sad. you play the victim and make it out that anyone who isn’t a casual is this elitist that dictates the content you get and do. you have access to the same things EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN THIS GAME HAS ACCESS TOO. it is up to you what you do with those systems.
get with the program, stop playing the victim and grow up

Why do you need 226 as a causal is a better question? There are better answers to “free gear”. I actually dislike the free covenant 197 for anima grinding.

Why are you worried about what I may or may not need. I’m sure you have your complaints about the effort/reward setup in your endgame of choice, but you don’t see me chiming in about loot drop rates in heroic raids or high level M+.
I don’t even have a specific ask on the PVE side, some kind of enticement such as slow progression higher level loot seems good. I’d definitely engage in that if it were available. WQ content with titan forging was really nice for casuals but perhaps over the top. Other players have needs and are allowed to express them w/o raiders calling them lazy or bad or beggars.

I agree. It’s better to finish last than to not finish at all.
To not get stomped by 226 players in random bgs for one. Since bgs have no ilevel scaling.

I think bg Arena scaling is the problem. They need to have a bracket for ilvl. 200 (in inventory) should be the cutofd

Yep I agree. I’d take that over giving out higher ilevel gear for less effort for sure. However, in the absence of that, I say just give everyone an easier way to progress (however slowly) to ilevel 226.
I’m in full PVP honor gear with 21% versatility but still get shredded up like tissue paper by more geared players.
