Casual Players: "We don't Need No Freaking Mythic+"

Most games aren’t very difficult and are producing more sales that WoW currently is. Make the game easier and more relaxing to boost those profits.

Edit: AAA titles that is.

the game is as easy or hard as the content you choose to participate in.

the fact that difficult content exists doesn’t mean the game as a whole is at that difficulty level.

I’ve come to the conclusion over my many years of playing that I can’t enjoy the highest ilvl stuff because my friends quit after cata and everyone was gone by Draenor. Since then, I’ve always done WQs and LFR. I’m really uncomfortable with giving my information out there now being older, so I left my last guild and all my alts are in my guild.

I would love to play with ilvl 270 gear. Korthia and ZM were a breath of fresh air. Siming Korthia and LFR SoD, and getting every piece, was great fun. But I have never done a truly endgame raid. Every guild I’ve tried making friends with that does even a normal raid for the first time can’t get organized and immediately falls apart just from wiping several times the first time.

I share your ideas about raiding. LFR is toxic because what I noticed after returning during 9.1 was that there’s always a raid full of solo gear or people just making the required ilvl. And then there’s the guy with M+ gear wanting to kick everyone. I know this because I often scan Ilvls with the method raid tools. Why was someone with mythic gear even in LFR? Those were the people pushing 20k dps on Terragrue, just to pump those numbers. This happened every wing 1 I queued for.

Blizz needs to start focusing on solo content. Gradually gamers are starting to recognize toxicity in games, so I see an opening for profit and peace for solo players. They’re limiting themselves with how huge the company is in avoiding prime solo content in favor of end game raiding. Maybe if I wanted to give myself to strangers I might, but I already have enough friends who don’t play WoW in the real world. I just want to enjoy my game on my off time.

Perhaps the competitive and RPG parts have become too diverged.

The “problem” (depending on one’s viewpoint) is that with M+ and mythic raiding so much of the game gets boiled down to numbers and performance metrics. This means that many of the players participating in these activities are there specifically for the numerical/performance aspects and become irritated when high end content attempts to diverge from those, because the divergence is seen as extraneous noise, which encourages the devs to further pare high end content down to its most competitive elements.

I don’t think there’s a true parallel to this on the “casual” side of gameplay; I think most casual players are fine with a light competitive element, but Blizzard’s approach to “casual” content has been to design primarily for the lowest common denominator among that type of player.

So you end up with a game with increasingly polarized content and a hollowed out middle, which is ultimately not great for the game’s health.

Casual players do keys, raid & PVP along with hardcore players not doing them but just strolling through the fields.

I enjoy people speaking for others but only voicing their opinions, and not actually checking with those other players.

Hardcore solo players to me already had all cypher slots unlocked by this past Thursday. There’s was even a solo player who unlocked all on 4 different characters. That’s not casual play at all. I think they get called Achievement Hunters.

If only Mythic + Looked like this. Maybe Casual Players might be interested.

Casuals are doing this content casually.

No, not even in the slightest. I enjoy doing raids and some mythic+ content. If I want to play a relaxed “take it at your own pace” game, I just fire up Minecraft

Um…Ok how about this:

It isn’t when it is ignored like in BFA and SL. Expansions before that had quests and rewards in fishing. Unfortunately, I think they reached peak fishing with the legion artifact.

I have to say it but… Archaeology.

Gathering relics of the First Ones and various covenants, and robotic prototypes would have been a fun activity. At least for my play time. Archaeology can be a great evergreen activity with its collections.

I am perfectly fine with the current graphics. I don’t need my 1080 card burning up for a 17 year old game.

I’m currently casually raiding with a guild that is not progression focused - they raid to hang out and that’s about it. Nice people, but most have a “I wouldn’t touch m+ with a 10 foot pole” mentality no matter how much my buddy and I try to get them to run even just low stuff, and the raid suffers as a result.

WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE THREAD NAME AS “METHIC+” TO “MYTHIC+”

THAT WAS BRILLIANT NAME

Now you ruined it by editing it. You get no likes.

Ummm… Then how about this it won’t burn up your PCs 1080 Card because you can play it on the PS4/PS5 Has nice graphics. Is being released this week.

These are the same people that have been arguing for years to remove X-realm LFD and X-realm LFR. Why?

As is in classic now, without LFD or LFR, the PvE elite funnel all the players towards themselves because, well, they are the queue system. If you want to raid or even run dungeons, you are at their discretion and have to go through them to form groups.

Pugs? Pugging only works in TBC right now if you happen to be on a mega server, and if not, then you absolutely have to transfer to one of them, just to even engage in 5-man dungeons mind you.

With the advent of LFD/R, The individual now had control over how he/she accessed his/her PvE content, No longer did he/she have to bend to the will of the organized groups in order to join them.

And that’s the great thing about the queue systems like random BGs, skirmishes, LFD/R, they are 100% fair and impartial when it comes to joining a group; provided you just meet the ilvl, you can get in. No spamming chat for LF…, no having to download this and that just to make the raid happy; you simply queue up and wait. And since these queue systems don’t discriminate against joining, even the toxic mythic-geared can queue up and do LFR along with the rest of us.

But I didn’t answer your question. Why are these players queueing up for LFR if it’s something they don’t need?

Because they’re salty over the loss of control they had over players like me, so they have to come to LFD/R to take it out on the casuals. Also, they want casuals to see them in their glory, and since they come to LFR feeling superior, they feel the need to start dictating how the content should go.

They’re addicted to a form of control they’ve had since vanilla and can’t stand to see their status quo rug pulled out from under them. They hide behind buzzwords like “community, server identity, immersion,” things that are ambiguous in meaning, that mean different things to different people.

Right now, I’m engaged in a fight for X-realm LFD itself as some are trying to get that removed for the future of Lich King. I’m already accepting that I won’t get to raid since there will likely be no LFR (something I am fighting for too) in Lich King…

But no X-realm LFD for 5-man dungeons?!! Unacceptable!!

That kind of makes sense. Players in a guild not focused on progression probably aren’t too interested in being pressured by a timer, even in low keys where the timer is easy to beat. It’s the principle of it. They want the game to move at their pace, rather than moving at the game’s.

It’s too bad that there’s no 5-man content above M0 that fits that player profile.

I assume the people raiding and pushing keys are having fun. I assume people doing PvP are having fun. I am not doing those things and I too, am having fun. Everyone seems to be having fun, so it’s win-win!

(…and if you’re not having fun, then stop doing the parts of the game you don’t like.)

Blizzard could make more mega-dungeons with hard/normal mode dropping good gear but it would mean less dungeons for M+
