Nope, you’re right. This expansion is very casual unfriendly. You’re pretty much locked into playing one character if you want to get any where and you probably won’t. You’ll be behind the item level curve and people simply won’t invite you when you do want to play.
lol, so essentially you’re saying if you have a life, don’t bother playing WoW.
I don’t think the OP necessarily wants to ‘excel’. I think they’re referring to basic progression, for the game to feel rewarding in some way. That isn’t a big ask.
There are plenty of casual players. Always have been. The game needs to cater to them as much as it does the hardcore players. It doesn’t need to be one way or the other. There are ways of making the game rewarding for casual players too. The developers obviously just couldn’t be bothered.
Lucky for me I have ~2 years to get done what I want to get done. I’m taking the long view.
Damn, people with their “go play something else” mentality… Maybe the OP enjoys WoW and its lore and playstyle? He can 100% play this game with an hour a day…
There’s nothing that says you can’t do content, OP, you are just going to behind and its going to take a long time to catch up. Don’t expect mythic raids or whatever. Questing and instance running is probably all your interested in anyways, right? Budget your time.
Focus on getting your covenant going since that progresses the story. Try to check in with Torghast at least once a week and work toward the legendaries. Do some WQs. If you’re in a guild, see what content you can do with them.
Don’t feel you have to give up on the game if you actually enjoy it, OP. There are things to do, just less than a casual would like.
I haven’t gotten SLs yet, I may not as it doesn’t look interesting to me at all but I’ll probably get it eventually if the next couple expacs aren’t like this one or BfA.
I’ve noticed the game makers are on some kind of trend. This will change if they don’t get the results they want.
- Also, they should eventually do catch-up mechanics so that’ll make it easier.
No I’m saying that the game and genre simply isn’t designed to be played for 1 hour a day if you want to be successful in game. Casual players can and do achieve many things, but not on on hour a day lol. Of course on 1 hour a day you can still have fun if you’re extremely casual doing quests, old raids etc. I’m simply referring to endgame gearing and “proper” progress.
its not even having a life
this game is already extremely casual friendly but only being able to play it for 1 hour a day is kinda… straining it
i havent done lfr since a year and a half ago but even easy wings of lfr lasted well over an hour so thats youre entire day gone
asking for catering to those that only play an hour is honestly not even worth it
target audience is unemployed, school age kids and retirees.
Just stop caring…thats what I did two years ago. It aint worth the irritation.
I do what I enjoy doing and ignore anything I dont.
There is less of a chore list in shadowlands than BFA…
How…?
Too old or too little time. I hardly been playing at all due to feeling busy. If you’re to that point. Take a break. The game has issues. But they’re moot if you can’t find the time to play the game.
Play a different game.
Yes! Though for me it isn’t so much about not caring as it is about deciding who is in charge of my time. Me - or - Blizzard. The answer is… me! I do things that I find interesting. If the game play isn’t fun, I do something else. I’m far more aware of time played now, than I was when I started.
Some days I am on for a couple of hours. Some days I don’t bother to log in at all. Just depends on how much down time I have in between doing other stuff.
In terms of character progression there is very little to do this expansion. This is why the loot chances have been dialed back. If you do PvE content all you really have to do is run M+, raid, and do torghast (and even torghast will be optional soon as most classes run 1-2 legendaries and if you’ve kept up with it you’ll be capped on them in a couple weeks). And of course do your renown campaign questline whenever that pops up. But really, other than those things, there is actually nothing required to do in the game.
WQs are not required. You do not need reputation for anything really.
Maw is not required. You can get like 4 sockets but if you’re casual who really cares?
This expansion is extremely casual friendly it just doesn’t feel that way because players are so used to getting gear so quickly.
it’s a dishonest attitude to open with “everyone who disagrees with me is not genuine” then proceed to state your wrong opinion.
Why? I’m able to get all of my Covenant stuffs done in half an hour. I can get all 1000 anima in an hour. I can run one run layer of Torghast in an hour. I can run a couple of quick quests in the Maw in a half hour.
Slow? Sure. Hard? I guess that depends on class. As a Druid, everything is insanely easy.
We lose all of our powers every expansion now, because Blizz loves throwaway systems.
Spend an hour to run a wing of Nathria on LFR. Get your Renown up and look for the WQs that give gear. I’ve seen weapons drop from them.
Right now, it doesn’t seem that alt friendly to me, but we’ll see how things change later on, I guess.
Stardew Valley is a good 1 hour game if you don’t get addicted lol.
I only play a few hours a day. I have no expectation of ever getting great gear, clearing the mythic raid, clearing a +20, etc. That’s what a casual player is. We don’t care.
If we cared, we wouldn’t be casual. If we cared, we’d play another game.
Don’t have a chance at what exactly? One hour a day isn’t much time for anything; could maybe time two keys or down a few raid bosses.
On world questing. I just logged on to have a lookie…
Now, i want to be clear, i understand that this is potentially broken at the moment. But, 5 weeks into the expansion is a bit long to get round to fixing this… if it IS indeed broken.
Brief summary of my general experiences thus far: Some positive upgrades from last week. Some upgrades listed as upgrades, completely downgraded upon completion (for example, trinket last week, listed at 171 in my home city, downgraded to 161 upon receiving it). Three maces, 1 sword, zero daggers. Sin rogue says im not playing your dumb pirate spec! One calling reward that was a weapon… another mace (yes, loot is listed for sin). Most calling rewards: 3 grey items totaling about 1000g and perhaps a gear appropriate conduit (for another spec)).
My renown is and has been up to date. Since the rank 10, ive gone from low 160s to 174 (mostly from heroics and world bosses with a supplement from WQ here and there). Oh, pvp vendor still lists only 158 gear despite completing the renown turn in (ie, getting the quest at renown level, flying to oribos, and turning in the quest). Im so perplexed by this, im assuming there must be another pvp vendor that the playerbase has all conspired to keep secret from me.
Anyways, my current (gear) options:
Revendreth: 158 bracers. 158 shoulders.
Ardenweald: 158 chest.
Bastion: 158 shoulders and 171 shoulders (same shoulders??! why would you even… blizzard? what?)
Maldraxxus: 171 roll the bones conduit.
And its sort of like this every day to be honest. A whole lot of nada. And who knows if you’re even going to get the ilvl it says when you arrive there?
There’s something currently borked about this and they need to be looking at it.
