Cash Shop implementation

I believe that a cash shop could be implemented into classic by using the current market price for the old loot cards. That way there would be a scarcity to it while maintaining a revenue of income. I do not believe that adding the old Blizzcon pets should be implemented or the collector’s edition Diablo pets. It would allow people to purchase them to support the classic server and encourage blizzard to listen to the community, while at the same time to offset the cost of actually maintaining the server.

Such informative arguments. It has made me change my mine completely.

Glad to hear it.

The TCG loot was never available in vanilla.

The NPC that “redeemed” the codes was not added until Jan 9, 2007 when TBC was released.

I notice that you only want the TCG loot to be sold, non of the other promotional items. Could that possibly be because you have those other promotional items, but not there are one or more TCG items that you do not have?

It is also important to remember that there was no “collections tab” in vanilla. Every mount required a bag space, as did every pet and “toy”. Those TCG items took bag spaces all the way up to the time the “collections tab” was added in Wrath.

I do not expect to see the “collections tab” in Classic. Would you really want to pay over $1000 for a mount that would require you to give up a bag space and would not even be added to your retail “collections tab” since Blizzard has already indicted that there will be no “cross game” interaction?

I actually don’t have the promotional items you’re talking about, and it has been mentioned that what you get in classic won’t be transferable to bfa. I am merely suggest a strategy that would convince blizzard investors that classic could be a new leaf for blizzard. It would show that we could be a revenue stream (pardon the phrase, using it to make a point) and that it would potentially affect their bottom line, thereby making future content to be less catered to the general public. The catering has in my opinion been one of the factors that add to blizzards slow decline.

I do not want a collection tab in classic, and I expect that it would negatively affect the game. That was never my argument.

Incorrect. The loot cards were available in vanilla. I dont believe the vendor was added in till much after they were available. I had the hippogriff hatchling in vanilla and picnic basket. Before that you had to redeem the code and get the item in the mail.

Classic will be a fine revenue stream without the lame cash shop.

Yes it was. You put the code in on your account page and the item was mailed to you.

Classic will be a fine revenue stream without the lame cash shop.

It really wont though, it is being used to inflate the number of subscribers for bfa as you have to buy a sub to have access to classic. This would be something that would stand alone and not be diluted by bfa numbers.

No thx , go away

Investors don’t care about World of Warcraft unless a $50 expansion is on the horizon. The next Call of Duty installment is going to make hundreds of millions of dollars in a week; investors care about that, not $25 mounts that no one is compelled to buy.

Oh look, another bad thread created by an alt character with no posts and less than 25 minutes of existence on the forum.

It is hardly a bad thread, and with all the negativity regarding any changes (even if they were present in vanilla) I wouldn’t use my main account for this. you should understand that mister 80 gnome dk.

Please tell us all how you had the picnic basket in vanilla. That card was part of the “Through the Dark Portal” expansion which was not released until April 11, 2007. That would be 4 months after TBC launched.

Redeeming the code on the website simply gives you another code that you had to redeem via Landro Longshot in the game. The code on the card cannot be redeemed to Landro Longshot.

I had the Hippogriff Hatchling and the Tabard of Flame, as well as many loot items from the expansions.

Also, this website has some good information.

There were some promotional items that were sent to a player when the code was redeemed on the website, but those were “store items” and Blizzcon promotional items, not TCG loot items.

They already have an ability of offsetting the cost of server maintenance, and we will be providing it in $15 increments monthly.

They’ve successfully pulled the wool over your eyes if you think they won’t be able to keep the lights on if they don’t add a cash shop.

Sorry you’re correct, it was the hatchling and the tabard. I got the basket in the later set. I just transmogged my character to show it in my preview so you can see I am not blowing smoke.

Not true because you do not have to buy BfA in order to play it

I think people over estimate how successful classic will be. There will be a rise at first when people want to try it how it used to be, but will see a rapid decline as time goes on with only a (comparatively to initial numbers/hype for it). I am merely suggesting a way to monetize it that would ensure its longevity when this happens. If you would feel better it could be the promotional items (as I have been corrected by others here ((faulty memory and all)) ). It is planning long term as with various p.servers they offer incentives, though I would not want instant 60 or the ability to buy riding training with rmt. But little cosmetic things that are considered to be toys as we call them now, would not negatively affect gameplay. It would also be something that could affect bfa+ if it was successful. It is planning for the long game.
