Case in point: Some people are absolutely stupid

Except the US government totally has the authority to do it and the Constitution is A-Okay with it.

Ah yes. Funny science man shows that a glacier period is cold and dry, and an interglaciary period gets warmer and wetter.

Your point being?

Take your misanthropy and shove it. Noone else is responsible for your safety except you.

Who is going to enforce it?

The AG disagrees. He’s threatened to sue governors and mayors that are closing church services.

People still think this way. Didn’t you know that all the bad things in the world are caused by the gays? Educate yourself!

Bless him. People who trade freedom for security deserve neither.

That’s just the problem. The economy will only be able to recover if people are able to get out of their houses to start spending money right. And, again, I don’t just mean groceries, Amazon deliveries, or even fast food. In order for the economy to flourish, people need to be able to pay for goods AND services. All kinds of things would need to be made readily and immediately available, as soon as possible.

I get the impression that, while many companies won’t shutdown all together, many businesses will consist of entirely new employees who won’t get paid as much. I’m in a pretty good place right now, but I don’t currently have a job. I’m either going to get one ASAP, or hold out a little longer and see what happens.

Other coworkers of mine have already expressed interest in moving on as well. Waiting for my business to reopen so I can go work there again will be pointless if they don’t give me news within the next week.

That’s just an example, of course, but it’s frightening to think about the potential loss of businesses.

Somehow, this chart isn’t compelling and I can’t figure out why. It kind of just looks like someone’s High School science project.

No, no, no. Blame the Christians, you loony!!! !! ! ! !!1 1! 1! 1 1 :rage:

Obviously.
But living years into our portended ruin leaves me nothing but skeptical to the motivations of such folk as would claim doom leering on the horizon. A desperate push toward hysteria for more swift action in the face of rising apathy, maybe; fear-mongering driven by a desire for selfish gain I think more likely, especially considering the nature of mankind.

I’d like to mess with your beliefs even further. Temperature estimates for that long ago are also likely inaccurate.

The models also used to predict warming rely on a runaway interaction between greenhouse gases when no such relationship has been shown to happen on Earth. In fact, water starts to reflect light when it condensates into clouds. Resulting in a loss of heat.

That
proves the point completely. You just described the federal government threatening to interfere with the administration of state and local laws. The authority exists. Under the NEA, the president has a whole slew of emergency powers. Trump himself has even stated that the NEA grants him powers “you wouldn’t believe.”

If we’ve learned anything at all from the virus situation, it’s that computer models predicting the future are full of crap. We were supposed to have millions dead in the US by now.

What money? At least half of the people trying to get unemployment aren’t getting anything. The stimulus was a good start but it’s not going to stimulate anything, because I wager most people spent it on rent or debts since those haven’t been frozen. There’s a reason most if not all other developed countries are making their stimulus a monthly thing, so that people actually have money to spend.

It’s because real life is a system often too complex to compute accurately. It’s not an equation, it’s a set of compounding possibilities.

People exist, things are reported inaccurately.

Covid for example has inflated death tolls already. Tack on asymptomacy and minor sickness and the rate of severe symptoms is almost always restricted to smokers and the deeply elder.

So now that we haven’t had millions die yet, we can go ahead and open up the entire country!

You sound like an overweight person trying lose weight incorrectly. “I’m not eating an entire pizza this time, just half a pizza and 12 chicken wings! I’m eating less!”
