Carrot on a Stick replacement REQUEST

But who loses something so unique?

What’s perfect is if I dismount you with those on, much easier to kill you without a proper trinket

items with those mount boosts on should be a close second in stats.

Yea except the trinket we’re talking about unfortunately has zero stats.

It sounds like hyperbole and it isn’t true for every AV, but it is pretty common for even 5 yd to matter a lot. If a mage hits 1-3 people with a frost nova, those 1-3 people are generally dead and are often semi-useless for the rest of the match. If he hits 10+ people with frost nova generally that means the mage (and any nearby horde) will die. Premades don’t need a full group to make it to drek and will abandon people who get picked off if it won’t stop their overall push.

I will not claim that the difference in movement is because of carrot as it likely frequently is more due to the individual (being slower to mount up, pathing, lagging etc), but I can’t blame hardcore premades for trying to eliminate that possibility by making carrot a requirement.

I’m probably going to be lvl 51 this evening. Time to start fishing in AV.

It’s actually only 1.5% mounted speed increase with the bizarre warlords of draenor calculations.

Until around MoP it increased you MOUNTED speed by 3%, so if you had a 200% base mounted speed your new speed was now 206% of your walking speed, which was huge.

Because Blizzard refuses to fix this yeah, carrot on a stick is pretty much useless.

I can imagine scenarios where 5 yards could matter while riding through an area, but it won’t be common. When it does matter, you messed up on pathing anyway, so don’t blame mount speed items.

Overall, the speed difference is immaterial to gameplay. I have the items because why not, but nobody should be bothered because they don’t have one of them.

…u saw an item that increased your mounted speed and you vendored it?

Deleted it?

Really?

This is worse than deleting your skull

why in the F would you have ever gotten rid of it???

I see it as similar to hardcore minmaxing in pve. Not being an idiot and knowing how to play your class matters a whole lot more than a single item upgrade worth 5 dps, yet it is not uncommon to see people care a lot about that item and people often won’t blame you for caring about the upgrade.

Carrot is the same way in that it will frequently be unnoticeable and probably shouldn’t be a big concern, but it shouldn’t be a surprise that top hardcore players do care.

Unfortunately the difference in quality between the hardcore premades that do care and the more casual premades that don’t is huge which can make not having the carrot a pretty big deal if you’re ranking.

Nah. PvE upgrades (and PvP upgrades) aren’t immaterial like the mount speed buffs.

It’s always possible I’m mis-remembering, but early on during Vanilla, wasn’t there also an additional reward you could have chosen instead of Carrot on a Stick for this quest?

I think that’s how it was at first.

Anybody else remember that?

I’m excited for you

When you’re chasing the lotus. You had better have the carrot. You better also have 2 gloves. One set for riding, the other with +5 herb.

The speed increase is the difference between being stuck next to bal for mages to aoe and being closer to sf.

How ever as a pally you can go into ret and snag the talent and you will move at about the same speed.

You will be slightly less tanky and lose kings, at least if you are caught in a 1v1 you can get some nice burst with commans+ shock.

Carrot is a huge deal

It’s the equivalent of not running around iwth minor move speed

It will make a difference and often

It’s bad

No one with sense vendors move speed items
