Can't wait for the Monk hero talent tree interview

If it happens at all, it will most likely be Venruki they interview as he is the monk golden child in the eyes of devs.

More likely than not we will go live with place holder abilities just like we always do and even then they will just buff those place holder talents (repeat of bonedust and fls all over again) rather than actually rework us.

Oh and summons lots of summons… nothing says martial arts master, like not actually doing martial arts at all, and just summoning stuff like a poor version of a warlock/bm hunter.

Monk is such an Awesome class, I’d be more interested in how their looking into the base talent trees, resource balance issues and button bloat.

Yeah if only the celestials hadn’t been a key part of the class’s identity and lore since their inception, right?

Where summoning celestials is part of the lore? The celestials are teachers and guides to the monks, not summons.

I also thought the celestials only became baseline in Shadowlands? In BFA they were talent nodes.

Yeah in WC3 when playing as chen I totally invoked xuen… NO wait I didn’t in fact that wasn’t even a thing when monks got put into wow lore.

Take another L and welcome to ignore.

Been a part of the monk class since MoP. The celestials are the effigies and teachers of the different styles. I don’t like the statues sure (Though windwalker statue is really the only problematic one, BRM one is basically as signature as Dave) but the celestial summoning has been a part of the class since it was created.

I’m talking about wow not about wc3. By your logic brewmasters should carry around a keg under their arm wherever they go too.

God I wish we could get that as a transmog of some sort. But we do seem carry kegs everywhere I mean I pull a crap ton of them out every fight.

Yeah, but whats the lore in monks can summon celestials?

It isnt explained what or how monks can do that, and it clashes with every part of the class fantasy written, about being fighters that focus on physicality, chi and mixing brews.

It’s the ability we’ve had since the class was created. You’re calling upon (invoking) and effigy (idol, statue or, in this case, a manifestation) of the august celestial you follow. This has been a thing since MoP.

There isn’t lore or a lore character you can grab and say “omg they did this we should be able to” or “they didn’t do this that means that we shouldn’t be able to do it”

Instead look at the class. What does it have? What has it lost? What has it always had. This has been a key part of the class since it started (and I doubt it’s going away since there’s a hero class conduit of the celestials)

There isn’t any lore for it; but there’s next to no monk lore anyways.

I looked up, because I’m a BFA baby, but the summons in MOP seem to have been just talents in the talent row, which I’m fine with, they’re being an option, not a mandatory and core part of our rotation like in SL or DF.

Summons should indeed be optional. Easy fix for Xuen is a choice node between either a summon like it is now or adding Xuens tiger lightning to our character for the duration. Allow both to work with invokers delight, improved tiger lightning etc.

Missing out on the tigers auto attacks is nothing if i never had to summon it again.

Another alternative would be to have it as a capstone talent and put talents like invokers in the celestial hero tree instead. Then we have the option to go full shado pan and ignore Xuen summon.

Yeah, a keg cloak transmog would be pretty sweet. I mean, there’s a treasure chest one, now. Why not a keg?

I aprove keg back armor or keg offhand, not locked to pandaren only please.

Might be a weird one, but conduit of the celestials to me sounds like the opposite of a summoner. Summoning celestials wouldn’t make any sense for me.

Instead of invoking (summon) them you channel their power as a conduit. Instead of invoking xuen and he tiger lightnings stuff, one directly tiger lightnings stuff.

This would fit MW/WW best in my opinion.

Give me tiger/xuen colored tiger fists like Hinata from Naruto.
Chi-ji themed leg kicks thingy.

Make it instead of SEF and Serenity. A deeply rooted elemts kind of thing.

Thank you Blizzard.

Right we have the brew pack toy but you can’t do anything but hand out drinks with it on.

Agreed we need it open to at least all monks though I would love it to just be a cosmetic so anyone could use it.

Although it does usually tie into a CD at the end as a bonus, so the celestials will probably buff whatever the conduit abilities are further.

Oh, yeah, it shouldn’t be Pandaren only. I mean, Dwarves have a fair amount of brewing in their lore, too.

So far all the hero talents they introduced seem lame and focus on the worst aspect of the classes. Can’t wait for Monks

They should move the forums to in game. Have a building in the new city called “the forum” and have these kinda interviews and announcements in game. It would be a cool way to make the game more immersive. Imagine going into the game to do Q&As with devs for ur spec, announcements, etc. in character while also having more communication between devs and the community.
