Can't wait for the Monk hero talent tree interview

Looks like the class Devs are giving interviews with associated class streamers for the upcoming new hero talents.

What do you think the Monk interview will be like?

I’m guessing it’ll be Babylonius and JFunk interviewing a cardboard cutout of Will Ferrell’s character Ricky Bobby from the hit comedy Talladega Nights and a fork on a plate on a table.

They should get all the elitists from Peak of Serenity in a room. They can sit around and theorycraft on how to get 1% more dps for the entire interview while their followers praise them and donate clown dollars to their patreons.

Considering all the interviews are with the Lead Combat Designer and Game Producer I wouldn’t assume it would be any different for monks.
There’s a legitimate question on if people here actually look to discuss things or are just looking for excuses to snipe at Blizzard.

You must be new here. Blizzard will forget about the monk interview because this class is not existing

IF we get an interview, it will be last and it will be less than an eighth of the length of the rest of the interviews.

Edit: and it will be full of place holder titles with no details on what the talents do.

I really hope they give every class one before they start giving classes’ second or third trees.

My guess is monk will be the last to be announced like what they did for Dragonflight.

With a rushed job on talent trees and we get more statues.

Blizzard will probably forget that monk exist like they been doing for years

Doomposting aside I reckon monk is getting a rework that will happen before we see our trees because some of the hero talent trees are already built around reworks. In particular of the ones we’ve already seen resto druid was 100% given the force of nature stuff in anticipation of the hero talents. I suspect we’ll see something similar for the rogues and how all of them are going in and out of stealth for their rotations instead of just sub.

Its nice to think that is the case anyway.

Knowing Blizz’s track record, it’ll be a blank cardboard cutout that says “Not Yet Implemented.” And it’ll be a jpeg of the Tiger Statue with like a Jfunk or Babylonius name tag on it.

Mistweaver - Windwalker hero talents.
Conduit of the Celestials.

Keystone
Ebon Toes reprise: Your blackout kick has a chance to summon a random celestial.

Row 1
Silviculture: Casting Faeline Stomp whilst inside FLS will cause the tree to grow into a woodland. Casting FLS in a woodland causes the woodland to become a forest.

Statuette: Summoning a statue will allow you to cast the ability again. This second use will summon a smaller variant that will do even less healing/dmg.

Chimaeras: Summoning a celestial causes another to spawn, then merges them together. This abomination has the benefits (and AI) of both.

Row 2
Choice node
Forest for the Trees: Enemies in a Faeline Forest take 50% more damage.
Trees for the Forest: Standing inside a Faeline Forest causes you to deal 50% more dmg.

Choice node
Dont blink: The statues move when you aren’t looking at them.
Columbidae: A flock of pigeons will surround your statues, inflicting dmg to enemies.

Choice node
CM Hunter: All celestials can now attack, but you deal 50% less dmg.
Lonely Monk: Removes your celestials, but increases your dmg by 7%.

Row 3
Ecosystem: Your Faeline Forest will start to be populated by different kinds of animals. Standing near animals will provide buffs depending on what animal.

Gnomed: Your statues are replaced with garden gnomes. On casting a statue there is a chance a nearby enemy is gnomed, causing them to die violently.

Conduit: For every celestial up, increase your lowest stat by 5%.

Capstone
Heed My Call: Blackout kick has a random chance to activate Storm, Earth and Fire as WW. As MW it does nothing.

Might as well just call us punch druids at that point

How could this not be the pinnacle of monk? I focused on the three most important things in the monk kit atm: Faeline Stomp, statues, and summons.

I would love to have 8 yards melee range as a monk. Chi lore ftw

When it comes to the actual trees, here is my vague guess on what they will be about.

Shado-pan: Easy to guess that this will be the windwalker and brewmaster shared one, I think this will be a more physical themed hero spec, maybe they will even include weapon animations for tiger palm, fists of fury and strike of the windlord, I’m not sure ehat gameplay changes will be present, but My guess is that they will affect mainly damage dealers, as those sre the abilities BrM and WWs have in common, so, tiger palm, rising sun kick, spinning crane kick, blackout kick.

Conduit of the celestials: Is hard to gauge which specs this one will affect, because celestials are part of all 3 specs, but as we have the windwalker and brewmaster one, the other 2 specs will be connected to mistweaver. There are two possibilities here, either the spec will change how the summon CDs work, maybe the word conduit here meaning that instead of summoning the celestial you would call their powers to you instead, or maybe it means that the spec will change to expand on the summoning aspect of the class, if the first case is true, my Guess is that this would be a windwalker and Mistweaver tree, but this could be the second case as well, and this also makes me think of the possibility of this being a Brm and MW tree, because historically Mistweavers and Brewmasters have been more connected with their celestials than Windwalkers.

Master of Harmony is another very generic term that could be connected with every spec, but I’m thinking this is a Chi oriented tree, maybe interscting with projectiles and long range moves and maybe adding range to moves that are melee, I’m willing to believe this is the WW and MW spec.

TL:DR the way i see it, I boil down the 3 hero specs to the following themes:
Shado-pan: Physical side of monks, martial prowess.
Master of Harmony: Balance, Chi usage.
Conduit of the Celestials: August celestials powers.

Please don’t give them more ideas for summons and totems… I just want to play a monk without summons and SL covenant crap. :frowning:

I just want the conduit of the celestials to be the ww/mw one. I don’t want niuzao to be a focus for tanking, last time I saw Niuzao relevant it involved sitting in front of bosses to farm stagger. Having more depth to xuen and chi ji/yulon windows could be legitimately cool however.
