Cant use wow token from character select screen

i have a game token in my inventory but it wont let me use it from the character select screen

From where did you purchase that Token? From the Auction House in game OR from the Blizzard Shop?

Only the one purchased from the Auction House in game can be used for game time.

That one can only be placed on the Auction House for SALE.

If the purchase was recent, you could put in a request for a refund.
