Can't use authenticator

I did. I get a code sent to my email and I put that code in. Then it says Fill in account details. to continue we will need some additional info so we can secure your account. they want me to put in my phone number and hit get code. message says xwhoops looks like something wrong. please give us a few minutes and try your request later.

yes it is. from what I am reading is that the problem is I have cricket wireless.

That shouldnā€™t be the case at all. I just used my chrome book (no phone number on it) to setup the authenticator again. The authenticator really shouldnā€™t require your phone number at all and it hasnā€™t asked me in either case for mine.

Iā€™m not too sure if youā€™re still confusing two completely separate services as being the same thing. SMS phone notifications are a totally different thing than an authenticator.

I donā€™t know if itā€™s working differently for me because I also have SMS notifications turned on for my account, but I might be able to test that out later.

ok I was able to enter the code for the mobil auth on my pc and I see where it says serial number but I am not sure what that is

In the app, there should be 3 dots on top of each other in the top right of the screen which will provide you with some options. From there, one will be ā€œSerial & Restoreā€. If you tap that, it should how you the serial number.

ya but when I open the app up on my phone it still wants a phone number activate it.

I wish I could help further. I really donā€™t know why itā€™s asking you for a phone number in order to setup the authenticator. You might need to reach out to Tech Support for more assistance unless anyone else here has experienced anything similar.

Youā€™re most welcome! I fell badly, because setting up the authenticator usually is very straight forward and I hate when thereā€™s something like this that has me stumped too!

I havenā€™t used an authenticator in ages and have not been prompted for it until today. I tried SMS but it is sending it to an old phone number. I canā€™t change my phone number in Account Details because it needs an authenticator code and vice versa for the authenticator. I keep trying to create a ticket but that wants to verify my account by using one of the two non functioning options. So i am in a loop. now what?
