If you have the normal tier helm, you will need to go to the Fissure Stone vendor and purchase the helm token, then go to the valor vendor and buy the heroic helm. Buying the heroic helm will cost you your new token + your existing normal helm. (edit: Actually it might be on the justice vendor now, idk, I haven’t looked.)
(Prior to this patch, it would have cost just the token, which is what people are discussing. But if you already have the normal helm, then it’ll work out fine for you.)

The helm piece sold on the vendor is(for me) Helm of the Forlon Vanquisher, the heroic piece requires Crown of the Forlon Vanquisher. You can only get it from heroic raids.
Yeah, that’s what I thought. I mean, it’s pretty slapdash what items they put on that vendor, I can’t get a heroic tier helm But I can get 379 pants from the hardest boss in the raid tier. I can’t even get an alternate 372 helm. That’s on a mid heroic boss. If you’re going to put that stuff out there for next to nothing at least put it all on there.
I really hope this was a mistake of some sort and they’ll revert it soon. Not being able to get 372 tier without jumping through new extra hoops as a 25-man heroic raider is absolutely wild…
I was extremely sad today to realize I had 2 different 4-set bonuses that I not only couldn’t equip during my raid, I’d have to do a bunch of extra grinding I wasn’t planning on.
Im fairly certain before this phase began, if you wanted the higher ilvl version of the same Token bought gear peice, helm for example, the first one would only need the token for your class to drop to trade for the normal mode helm. and to get the Heroic version of the same helm, you would run a heroic raid and hope for the heroic version of the token for helm to drop so you could roll for it. then take that token and your existing normal version of the helm, to turn it into the heroic version.
Im 100% certain this is how it was working for a very long time as I could never find any pugs to run any H attempts this entire expansion so far. keeping me stuck at the normal version of tier pieces.
Before this phase, you only needed the heroic token.
I am 100% certain of this, because I’m wearing heroic shoulders and never had normal shoulders.
Apparently it’s the normal tokens on the vendor and not heroic so it doesn’t really matter.
Yeah it was just the heroic token needed before, a few people have mentioned its because of the guilds that do heroic without touching normal.
that isn’t always useful, for instance my 2nd hunter is going into Firelands with a 346 polearm because Malevolence won’t drop nor the 353 from ZG after to many kills to count never seen it, and im not droping 50-60k on that 365 polearm, but at least in firelands i can buy one from the heroic vendor lol, but yes in 6 months raiding weekly 10man that polearm never dropped for him, same can happen for a tier token.
Good news, 359 Malevolence is on the vendor for 30 Fragments. About 3 protocol dungeons worth.
thats nice, but using it for valor which is way more useful and i have to deal with less people that way

So I guess they are not going to do anything about this, they will let us have loot from Sinestra But heroic helm and shoulders Or a bridge too far even for people who already have the normal Helm and shoulders. They also won’t include loot from Council where I could get a heroic generic helm Even though there is one on the vendor for cloth. The inside of this 359 helm is going to start to smell.
I’m assuming you are talking about mail. You’ll be able to get the 378 helm from Normal Shannox in 2 days.
