Cant talk in-game

just tried /console cvar_default and it only gave me a frame drop, sadly no fix :frowning:

I don’t know what else you can do other than staying on tickets until this can get escalated or something.

This is what Orlyia said would be needed above if UI reset failed to fix.

Keep on it, let us know what happens and good luck.

I dont believe thats the case, although the account has been inactive since the end of WoD, i can still use everything except the chat

If the account was AFK since WoD than it is most likely the 26 day waiting period for classic wow to be able to do stuff again since it was put in place to prevent gold spammers, but it shouldn’t effect retail.

That waiting period doesn’t affect chat. It only affects AH, mail, and trade.

I returned to WoW about a week ago and I am having the exact same issue. Disable Chat is checked and greyed out, and I cannot change it. Chat is enabled in Privacy and Communications on battle.net website, but I still can’t enable it in game.

I have submitted multiple tickets, and the support folks have verified that Parental Controls are off. They have also done various types of account resets, to no avail.

I finally submitted a bug report after the Support team told me they are out of ideas.

Can’t do any organized group content without chat, so I doubt I will keep playing once my current paid subscription expires (30 days). It sucks, because I have been playing for about 15 years. Guess I shouldn’t have taken a break…

I’m in the same position but I bought a 6 month subscription, I’ve asked if they could transfer game time to another account and I was told I could, then told I couldn’t one ticket reply after.

They would have to refund the first purchase, if not too much time had passed, but no I’m not sure they can just transfer the game time.
