When I try to log in it say all servers are incompatible. My subscription is up to date.
Incompatible generally just means that there is an update and you haven’t picked it up yet.
The Desktop app will usually start the process by simply logging out of the game but you might try restarting the app.
I’m having the same problem, followed your steps, problem is not fixed. Any other ideas?
Ok I rebooted and it’s fine. Thank you
The heck does that mean?
It means your game client is out of date.
Reboot your computer for the Blizzard Launcher to snag the update.
Try a full reboot of your computer. Sometimes the game gets ‘stuck’ open and the launcher won’t download new updates. A reboot usually fixes it though.
Which part are you confused about?
If those steps didn’t work, Nearyssa, try rebooting your computer. For reference, I believe we’re on version 9.0.5.37864.
It means your client is out of date, Nightnoise, which is outlined in the Support Article I linked.
Did not work. Perhaps uninstall/install
If you must uninstall anything, make sure it’s the Blizzard app and not the game.
It’s odd that the launcher didn’t pickup the update after a reboot though.
It might be worth trying a re-install of just the launcher (not the game) and see if that helps.
Here are the steps:

It took me a while to find it. But at the top of the new blizzard launcher, to the left of your name is the download manager that let me select the update.
Weird that it didn’t do it automatically, but I’m very happy to hear that you were able to get it going!
You are a god among men good sir.
Make sure you close all WOW client processes as the update cannot start with WoW open. Sometimes you get a phantom or ghost process which blocks the updater.
The Blizzard Update Agent and an instance of WoW were stuck open hiding in the background for me.
This is the second or 3rd time I’ve run into this problem. But end tasking them and re-opening the Battlenet launcher actually allowed the update to go through
