Hello all,
I am lvl syncing with a friend on his low lvl Death Knight and for some reason I cannot ride any mount. He can ride mounts. Everyone else in the bg can. But I cannot. I tried on multiple lvl 50 characters and all over them have every stage of riding unlocked and the game keeps sending me an error saying I don’t have the appropriate riding skill. Any help would be appreciated.
A good thing to do in any situation where others can do something - you can’t, and you know you should have permissions - is a proper reset UI.
Even when it doesn’t help - it is good to rule out some things first.

First try resetting your UI. You can do the copy and move folders just in case it proves not to be the case.
Otherwise, not sure.

If I do the reset in the way that you are saying won’t that delete all of my add-ons data and settings? I have a huge amount of time invested in collection and auctioning add-ons that I can’t afford to have erased.
You could also rename those three folders - or just move them.
If this does help, however, adding them back in one at a time, after making certain you have patch compatible addons is going to be a process if you run that many.

Ok I tried this. Followed all the steps exactly. And it still doesn’t work. Says I require apprentice riding skill still.
I’d pop in a ticket then, have a GM take a look.
I did. They have me an auto response to say they were too busy and closed my ticket. I responded asking them to please help so hopefully they do. I appreciate you both for trying to help me.
This is certainly a bug. I already reported it. It happens when you group up with someone, enter a battleground (might happen in arena, too, haven’t tested it) and you are scaled to a level bracket lower than yours. When you try to mount, it says “requires apprentice riding skill”. There is a workaround, though. If you have the Chauffeured Chopper, it will allow you to mount up and scales your movement speed to the riding skill appropriate for the bracket. So if you are in the 10-19 bracket, it will be apprentice riding (+60% increased movement speed, and for 20+ it will give you journeyman riding (+100% increased movement speed. This is the only mount I’ve tested that allows you to mount in BGs if you are scaled to a lower bracket.
