Can't launch game after patch 10.2 downloaded

Good thing I play on a Mac! Game is launching just fine over here.

I never get to say this!

Launches fine for me…course there’s nothing to connect to right now. It will take longer to launch the first time after the patch due to having to rebuild cache, compile shaders, etc.

LOL yoy wanna talk about slow Internet, it takes me 30 minutes sometimes to download a minor update due to the half a gig encoding table B.S., heck it took me 7-8 hours last night to download the prepatch, and that was fast compared to how it can be. Expansions are worse though, in that it can take me a couple days of letting it download, I have to pause the download during the day because of how badly it bogs down the Internet. So I leave my PC running over night to download, then pause it in the morning if I need to and resume it later.

It’s honestly bad when you have slow Internet like I do, I can play the game fine but downloads are horrendous.

Use this in the meantime honey bun - I’m sure this issue will resolve itself once everything is updated.

worldofwarcraft.blizzard(dot)com/en-us/game/status/us

Next step is change ISP and energy provider, then change city, then change state.

But please dont change country in case you come to mine

Having the same issue currently, and was also having the same issue when I tried to launch the PTR. I gave up and didn’t bother with the PTR then, not really an option now. Send help, S.O.S.

Edit: Can confirm just waiting for 5 minutes with a non-responding black screen eventually worked. Weird.

I also tried on PTR and eventually just gave up. Scan & repair, uninstall/reinstall, nothing worked. Seems to be the same problem now, i’ll try and let it hang for a while to see if that works.

Had the same issue folks, for me the fix = logging off wow, closing it out completely and then rebooting the computer. When I opened B.net it had a small update and after that I was good to go…

Here to say nothing worked except just letting it run for a few mins. It took 3 mins for the game to finally load. Don’t waste your time doing scan & repair.

One of the things that will also cause problems is anti-virus. This has been an issue with WoW updates for as long as I’ve played. As soon as I turned off the basic Windows AV the game loaded.

Mine says incompatible on realm lists

I have the patch downloaded

Edit: small patch after restarting comp works fine now

I’ve been touching grass all day at work. I wanna fukn play.

Mine has been doing this over and over all morning. Nothing on our end seems to fix anything. Just keep trying and swearing at the screen until it finally lets you in… At one time it took me shutting down the process and restarting the client like 10 times before it make it to the log in screen.

It could be a corrupted file , like it was with my friend. She had to remove everything and reinstall and that seemed to fix it .

I scanned/repaired, updated my GPU drivers, disabled everything in my AMD settings for WoW, and shut down my PC. Still nothing.

I had a hiccup last night. Was playing, got to the first hub and my game and entire PC froze up hard. Waited 15 min nothing. So hard reset

All of my PC is brand new so its not the hardware. Likely maybe some GPU software update needed.

There is a problem with 10.2 dx12 with amd cards, you can switch to dx11 by clicking on battle.net in corner of launcher>settings>game settings> and add -d3d11 to the commandline argument.

This did the trick for me!

That’s great and all, but who gives a ****? That doesn’t help anyone, at all.

THANK YOU! THIS 100% SOLVED THE PROBLEM!
