I was able to fly normally yesterday. After the patch, none of my flying mounts can fly. They’re all locked to the ground at epic ground mount speeds. A few people have told me to go into my mount window/journal and find a button that toggles between dynamic and static flying, but there’s no such button there. I briefly checked out the PTR yesterday so I know where the button should be, but it’s simply not there for me on the live realms. Might be an issue for players like me who have yet to do any Dragonflight content, and haven’t unlocked dragon riding yet, though I thought with 11.0 everyone would just get dynamic flight automatically.
Same here. Also have never done any DF content. Also really frustrating because it looks like the old flight is now locked behind an achievement for the new expansion. Who designs this crap?

Also me. I too have never entered any Dragonflight content and am now completely grounded. My druid can’t even enter flight form anywhere.
I also have no button or dropdown on my mount page for switching flight styles.

Myself and my Co-GM just spent about an hour troubleshooting this with a new guildie. What we found was he was stuck in a past timeline in chromie time. We tried to swap to DF timeline but still couldn’t fly. After going through the initial DF questline he was then able to fly. I’m not overly certain if this is the case with all chars in chromie time or if this was an isolated situation. However, that is how we were able to resolve it.
I am about to give this a try.

Did not work for me. I completed a couple DF quests, and still none of the flying mounts I have work on any character.

you may have to complete the dragonriding initial quest. it’s in the ruby lifeshrine by the flight guy i believe
Yeah, I just got done trying the same thing. Did the first few DF campaign quests, but nothing changed. Still can’t fly. I’m trying to save Dragonflight for after I finish the expansions I missed out on (Legion, BFA, Shadowlands) so I’m not really up for doing a big chunk of the story out of order just to reobtain my former ability to use flying mounts. Hopefully this bug is fixed soon and I can at least get static flying back.

More digging, it looks like my characters defaulted to “Skyriding” and the ability that lets you toggle between flight and skyriding doesn’t exist on my character.
So you don’t have this option up the top of your mount screen?

No, not there either. Checked all the places I could think of.
I don’t either. No Skyriding in the general tab. Just Master Riding, though even though it mentions I can fly, I’m still permanently stuck on the ground!
Currently I’m running a character through the Pandaria Remix intro, to see if maybe it’ll fix my account’s apparent skyriding problem once I finish it.
I’m having this problem too but only with Skyriding in retail. I have tried toggling it off and on, removing all addons, restarting wow and nothing works. I can fly with steady flight but toggling on Skyriding whilst the tooltip up near the minimap says its Skyriding mode, all my mounts are ground only and getting on a skyriding mount does not change the tool bar at all. Interestingly Skyriding works perfectly on my Remix toons. I’m yet to find a solution and I think its a bug of some kind. Edit: and yes I’ve completed the campaigns on my main long long ago.
Try the following:
/cast Switch Flight Style
This did switch flight style for me, but still does not allow me to use Skyriding even though it is showing the tooltip that its set that way. Thanks anyway.
Cannot find the guy at Ruby Life Shrine at all. This is really frustrating.
