I purchased a server/faction change, So I go to creation on new server the game telling me " You may not change while still member of a community."
Need help.
Leave your guild and/or communities that you may have joined? That would seem the obvious but I’m not sure if you tried it or not (and I have joined and forgotten I was in communities too lol).
but my toon is no longer in old server i cant =(
Then this may be a question for customer service - especially if the character is stuck at midpoint.
Seems pretty clear. You’re a member of a community (one of those player made channel things) and need to leave it before you can faction change.
Are communities server specific? I thought they worked crossrealm as well.

Leave said community then try again. It states that you are part of a community… if that character isn’t, then open a ticket or try posting in customer support.

Last I checked communities are cross server, you don’t need to be on that server to leave it… do you ?
If so, I’d suggest opening a ticket.
Just log on the character, go to your Communities tab (not Guild, Communities) and leave all active Communities. Then you can log out and use your Faction change.

Cross realm yes, but not cross faction. Ruin for instance is not visible to the Horde.
Looks like this has been going on since at least Nov 2018 .

UPDATE… I found a fix experimenting so on character creation screen i was scared to try because I didn’t wan to mess up my faction change, but i tried anyways it allowed me to take my ally toon which it was on the new server had to change name then log into new server with old ally faction then i deleted all my ally communities, logged off then on character creation screen created my new horde faction toon then it worked!

some communities are cross-server
I just had this problem and I had a lot of trouble translating what Kryptonite said above. It seems the trick is that you need to be flagged for rename. Once that happens, you can just double tap your character to try to log in, not by using the faction change icon, but just your regular character server login, and it’ll prompt you to change the name. Change it to whatever you like, doesn’t seem to matter. Once you’re in the game, you’ll be on the new realm but not on your requested faction. Open the community menu and leave the community(ies) in question. Then your faction change will go through. Without a name chance, I think you’re stuck waiting for Blizzard CS.
