Can't enable SMS protect

I’m getting this error:

“This phone number cant be used for SMS protect. please choose another number”

Why not? I have SMS/text messaging. Is it because I’m from Canada? I can’t find anything saying that would be why, or that there’s anything wrong with my number.

I read up a little and it said that it could be because I added hyphens, which I didn’t, and it’s a phone number from the country I live in and my account is registered in, which is Canada…

I can’t say for certain, Leonetta. Some services/plans are ineligible, even if they do receive text messaging, but I’m afraid I don’t have any additional details.

Is it a pre-paid phone?

While some may work with sms protect, not all do.

As a fellow Canadian, I can tell you that’s not it. I’ve got it enabled with my phone.

Same here.

It’s not a prepaid phone. :frowning:

Did you by chance move a number from a prepaid service to a contract phone?

Nope, its always been a phone plan.

When I switched my cell phone service and number from T-Mobile to Google Fi, my phone number got miscategorized and I stopped receiving Short Codes from Blizzard, PayPal, etc. I had to chat with Google to get it fixed. It’s probably worth reaching out to your mobile provider to see if there’s anything funky like that going on.
