Hi there, thank you for the reply.

I have sent multiple bug reports regarding this issue but it seems like they are doing nothing to fix it.

Multiple people with diff. accounts have the same problem and I can’t find any solution.

Just because there isn’t a response in Bug Reports doesn’t mean they’re not listening. :smiley: But the more people who report the issue, the more data they have to look at to figure why this is happening and how to fix it. The CMs and Devs aren’t really a communicative bunch and posting there is only one way reporting.

My note was moreso to the person above me who had come here, just to make sure that anyone who is running into this is reporting the issue properly. Posting here doesn’t do that, unfortunately. Vrak and the other SFAs are great folks, but they don’t fix bugs and they don’t relay that information along. A lot of people who just come here looking for a fix or quick response don’t necessarily understand that, so just try to get that information out there. I am sorry you guys are running into this issue though. It puts a huge crimp into things you’re trying to do.

edit: Solved, the solution to this bug on windows is to change date+time settings to “Set time automatically” instead of manual. The trade tooltips will return and you will be able to trade as normal.

Hi, there was a lot of troubleshooting over three weeks. Eventually I discovered this week that my old laptop with wow on it was able to trade as normal, just not the new one I bought recently (problem started for me on a new laptop with a fresh install of the game.) Tried reinstalling the game to the new computer using files from the old one. When that didn’t work, I told my much more tech savvy friend about it and we were extremely puzzled. A few days later he messaged me “check date and time” because he had seen it as a fix for some other problem somewhere (I live in Europe playing on US servers which may have served as a clue.) I played around with the settings and once I put on Set time automatically, trading worked again.

That has some very weird implications about how this is being handled by the game…

And should be reported as a bug so the QA team can take it down for further investigation they dont come here.

Like, if you set the time back two hours, you’d have an extra two hours to trade gear that drops or something…?

I think the implications are that this is an anti cheat measure. Consistency of tinestamping is important in a secure network transaction.

I speculate that this is, for example, an anti-duping measure.

Me and my Brother are playing some alts and we are both DK’s. Ran some heroics and we couldn’t trade items we didn’t need to one another. Also started running Mythic0’s and the same thing, got a cloak that was a small upgrade for me but huge for him and I couldn’t trade it. Is this intended or a bug?

I believe if it is an upgrade, it is not bugged.

Personal loot additional restrictions

  • You cannot trade gear that is an upgrade for your character. An item is an upgrade for your character when its item level is higher than the item level of any previously received gear for that specific slot.
