I haven’t played WoW for about a year. Now I cannot set up a proper LFG group because I do not have an authenticator. Actually, I used to have a physical authenticator but lost it years ago. I should also note that I do not have a smart phone – I use a flip phone but can receive texts.
Is there a way for me to set up an authenticator? I am not opposed to the idea, I just cannot find a way of doing so. The website always asks for my serial number – I don’t think I have one. Any help would be appreciated.
If you have a tablet with access to wifi, you should be able to use that to get the Authenticator application.
The serial number is a code on the physical Authenticator and found on the mobile app.

I do not have a physical authenticator, I lost it years ago. So, what number should I enter when it asks for a serial number? Or how can I get around that step? When I try to set up a mobile authenticator it asks for my serial number. Sure there is a way to do this.
If you are attempting to set up an Authenticator you’d need the serial number from the Mobile Application, there isn’t really a way around that.

Isn’t there a way to remove an authenticator?
Yes, if you have an Authenticator on the account and you want to remove it, assuming you no longer have access to it, you’ll need to contact our Customer Support staff.
The following Support Article covers that, as well as a link to put in a ticket.
Once they have verified that you are the registered user on the account they’ll be able to remove the Authenticator for you.

Hi, Thank you. I verified that I am the registered user and it told me there was no authenticator set up. I see from the security page that the authenticator is inactive. Is there a way to get a physical authenticator?
No, those were discontinued a good while back, sorry.
