Cannot Redeem WoW Token

I purchased a WoW token with Blizzard Balance a few days ago and am unable to click and redeem in game. Nothing happens when the token is clicked in my inventory. I’ve read that there should be an option to redeem from the character launch screen, but I’ve found nothing there to redeem it either. My game time has now run out and I would really like to redeem my token for more game time. Suggestions?

Tokens purchased with money can only be sold on the auction house. They provide neither game time, nor add back to balance.

For future reference, if you want to buy game time with balance, you have to use the game services option, found here.

You can not set up a subscription.

There really needs to be more clarity on that before purchase. I’m now out quite a bit of money and will not be able to renew my subscription. I now have an inactive account and an in-game token I can’t access, not that it’s much use to me now anyways.

To be fair, I’m not sure how much clearer they can get than “it may only be listed for sale on the auction house” which is right on the purchase page in-game. Edited for screenshot:

I would definitely refer you to the support pages for future information, such as

https://us.battle.net/support/en/search?q=token

But also the main token faq.

and watch the video,

It should show in game, as in the video, the two separate options,

I need game time.
I need gold.

I mean there should be more clarity about there being a difference between a WoW token purchased in the shop and in the auction house. I’m still new to the game and was none the wiser.

Just out of curiosity…

Were you trying to buy a token for game time with your balance? That’s like $20 with tax. You could have bought 30 days game time from the web store for $14.99 plus tax with your balance and avoided the whole token middleman. If you was trying to save it for later, just gift yourself the time and a code would be sent to be input at a later date.

Make sure to read the shop page also, it does specifically mention that the token you purchased can only be listed for gold, this is all just for future reference. If in doubt, always read the text. Be it a quest, or for any purchases.

I dont see what the big deal is just sell it on the AH and use that gold to buy a game time token it what u wanted.

The balance was gifted to me by my boyfriend so I could redeem for more game time. Since the option to purchase game time with Blizzard Balance was unavailable, we thought it made sense to just purchase a WoW token witht he balance and redeem it. The balance was gifted because he didn’t have the option to gift game time directly in the first place.

Now that my game is inactive, I can’t access the auction house to correct this.

What error were you getting when you tried? $20 should have been more than enough to buy one month after taxes were factored.

Both of these should have been addressed already, as I felt this was the reason why you may have purchased the token.

with Balance, as a subscription is recurring, this option is a one time only purchase.

Um… did you look under Game Services on the webstore?

You can gift the game time at checkout.

In my region, you cannot purchase game time with blizzard balance apparently.

I’m in Canada and all of the pricing and purchase options seem to be different from the US

Technically we are all in the US region. There should be no reason you can not purchase it yourself, though there may be issues with gifting game time, especially in Brazil. I am not sure about Canada, but you should still be able to buy game time codes with balance, just not subscriptions.

Canadians can indeed purchase blocks of game time using battle.net balance.

As a Canadian, I can confirm that

But you have to have the full amount covered by balance to do so.

Honest question - If the intent is to add game time to your account, why would you buy a $20 token rather than the $15 game time?

Edit - Read further and understand OP’s confusion.

I live in canada and that shouldnt make a difference what you can do is open a ticket and talk to billing about being gifted 2 days to place a auction and collect it to get game time tokens will sell well before the 2days are up.

Then I can’t understand why that wouldn’t work for me. It came up that that option was unavailable, even with enough balance to cover the cost. None of that really matters at the moment though, as my game is now inactive and I can’t access the token I bought to sell it. I won’t be playing again until I can pay to reactivate.
