Cannot log in until character boost (gear update) complete?

The gear update feature at the login screen will not finish processing after waiting over an hour and trying multiple times. Whenever I try to login I get the message “You cannot log in until the character boost process you recently initiated is complete.” I’ve seen other threads regarding the glyph wipe, ilvl 174 green downgrade you actually end up getting, etc…I haven’t seen anything about people unable to login and gear updates not even processing. I submitted a ticket, but any help is appreciated.

Best tonwait on your ticket hopefully it was inder purvhase failure or problem with purchse.

It’s still a fairly new system, so I don’t know what we can do, but a ticket is definitely the way to go.

Since the message you are getting is associated with a character boost, I’d submit your ticket using “Purchase Failure” instead of the general gameplay one you used. That way we can take a look at the character and see what can be done.

Edit: Unfortunately, it looks like our Support staff is unable to assist in this instance, so I’m editing this to discourage submitting a ticket.

This is actively being worked on though, while I don’t have any updates it remains a priority to allow folks to log into their characters as quickly as possible.

I submitted a second ticket under Purchase Failure. Hopefully this can be resolved soon. Definitley frustrating to learn of all the issues Blizzard is having with the new system. I was excited to return after a year away, but to not be able to login on my main is a huge drag.

I’m having the exact same issue. Gear Update will not complete and the game won’t allow me to log in. First time back in the game for a long while.

My ticket on this was just answered. I was told they’ll forward my information to the development team to help identify this “pesky” issue. There’s no workaround currently. Thanks, sorry, have a nice weekend. I requested a refund for the expansion and game time. This wasn’t an enjoyable return to the game.

I was asked for a screenshot. I submitted it and asked for a more clear timeframe. So disappointing that this hasn’t been resolved yet. I asked for a character boost so that I can play the new content with a fresh toon given there doesn’t seem to be a fix coming anytime soon.

UPDATE
Instead of providing any information as to the anticipated timeframe (i.e. hours, days, etc.), the rep immediately refunded me for the expansion. I’m assuming this means they don’t anticipate a solution anytime soon.

You will have to wait on your tickets gm can do alot of stuff but sometimes there hands are tied till a dev says so.

Just to clarify this part - they will absolutely never give a time frame of how long it’s expected to take to fix something. There is no way to guarantee a fix within X amount of minutes/hours/days/weeks. It may seem like a simple fix from our side of the things, but we don’t know if that simple fix won’t break fifty other things. So that they didn’t provide a time frame is not anything new.

I was also refunded for both the expansion and game time. It gives me the feeling that this issue might have them stumped.

I’m sorry you guys are having your returns to the game borked out like this, but I am glad they’re refunding things for you all fairly painlessly. Whether we see you back again in the future or not, I do sincerely wish you all the best wherever your gaming finds you.

I am having this exact issue. Played a few days when DFlight launched, then stopped. Came back and tried to Update my whole roster, except for the one toon I tried at first, all of them are stuck in the loop of not being able to log in and the Update not applying. It has been 2 days now, and my ticket hasnt had any response either.

Did you open a purchase failure ticket if you didnt thats why its taking so long.

Yes, I opened a purchase failure ticket yesterday. The last response I received indicated it may not be fixed until Tuesday maintenance.

They told you this Armor Upgrade bug would be corrected by Tuesday’s maintenance at the latest? That’s definitely news to me and positive news at that.

This is from the last response I received. Nothing guaranteed, but not being able to even log into their game for 4-5 days is obviously an egregious issue that I would hope they’d be able to patch during maintenance.

“We wouldnt have an exact ETA on the fix for it yet as it is being worked on at the moment. Usually something of this severity is addresed pretty quickly but it can still take until a weekly maintenance to get an update pushed if the developers have gotten the fix in place by then.”

Just for clarity-- they’re all talking about the welcome back gift for your characters in-game, nothing to do with the Armory.
