Reposting this here (from the bug report forum) in hopes that someone from the housing community knows of a fix:
I’m Completely unable to learn decor.
I’ve deleted several items.
I have reloaded/relogged.
I have sent the items to an alt to see if they could learn the decor.
I’ve tried to learn both things from the vendor, and from crafting.
After sending the items back to my main it caused my character’s animations to stop working properly. Any cast I attempted was bugged for about 5 minutes, until I hearthed back to Dornogal from the housing area.
I tried relogging and restarting my computer completely since.
Any suggestions? Most of the items I am attempting to learn do not have a buyback timer, as I know that can be bugged as well (have experienced it, and once timer ran out I could learn said item).
Edit: Logged in this morning and magically everything was fixed… For awhile.
But once again I cannot learn any decor and deleting items/relogging, etc etc etc, doesn’t do the trick.
yes, here its faling to learn decor like this, i have to log on the other day early in the morning and the stuff seems to be fine, then… it keeps doing same bug later
Seems to fix itself after reset sometimes, but for now I can’t use my ESC key again and my character animations are all wacky. And of course, this was because I bought decor from a vendor and attempted to learn it immediately.
Won’t hold my breath on it being fixed Tuesday. This game is a total mess of bugs anymore.
Edit Update:
I’ve found that if I use a port of some sort (doesn’t seem to matter where) before trying to learn decor I’ve just placed in my bags the bug doesn’t happen.
Yet, anyway. GL all, hopefully some things are fixed up with today’s maintenance.
Having this same issue and cannot get it to clear for almost a week, now.
Bought a pile of decor items and most went into my inventory bags. When I right-click on them to learn into my housing chest, the typical ‘flash’ happens around my character and she starts moving her hands like she is learning something. But that is all that happens… the item does not leave my bag and does not get added to the chest. My character continues to move her hands - even after porting, crafting, going to the bank, etc. She is stuck in this mode.
Also, my ESC key stops working. It works fine before trying to learn the decor and doesn’t work at all after trying. I have to use the “?” icon to get to the game menu. Sometimes, it is so bad that I have to do a CTL-ALT-DEL and stop the process to get out of the game.
Logging out and back in again clears the problems with the hands and the ESC key until I try to learn the decor again - then it is back.
I can mail the items to another character, but that character has the same problem. I was able to move them all into my bank for later, but this does not help me work on my house as I need stuff.
FYI - I have turned off ALL of my add-ons, so it is not that.
I cannot learn any decor at all under any circumstance.
But hey! Even though the game is totally broken we can give our information to Zillow and link our accounts to Pinterest (and potentially get banned).
Yeah, IDK what to do at this point. If we put in a bug report we’ll get some garbage AI/automated copypaste response about how they can’t do anything about it. Super frustrated.
I’ve reloaded, relogged, sent items to an alt to learn and deleted items. Nothing works, have had the bug for 2 full days now. Normally it clears after reset or a few hours randomly.

This is the third day in a row now that I’m unable to learn decor.
I deleted approximately 300 more items today in hopes it would clear up enough space to learn the 10 cobblestones in my bags. Ridiculous maybe? But my decor count has been bugged for the longest time too. I’m never certain if I can place items in my house or not.
Superchad MVP on the tech support forums is trying to tell me it is a computer issue.
The items in my bags are not loading into my decor storage because my inventory says that I have 5000 / 5000 items. In actuality, that is not the case. Each sub-decor tab has its own count for the section. They are correct and, in total, they add up to 3,837 - NOT 5,000+.
As I continue to use my decor items, the sub-decor total changes, but the overall total on the main page does not. Blizzard’s math machine is obviously broken.
This does not, however, explain why my ESC key stops working when I try to right-click on the decor item in my bags.
Overall, this is sad as I need more items to continue with what I am building, so my construction projects are on hold until my supply-chain opens back up again.
Exact same issue. Nothing alters outcome. I have packs full of plant decor but cant learn them, cant use the ESC key, No addons, fresh restart, and only 4700 out of 5000 listed for inventory space. WTH
That’s also worked when I’ve bought a mount or toy from a vendor and it doesn’t let me learn it for whatever reason. Strangely enough logging out and back in doesn’t do it when it’s essentially similar.
This is just our life now.. just held together with duct tape and bubble gum, ..lol…
I keep losing items like lighting in inventory, and I mean ALL lighting, while working on my house or the wheel will quit working it turns it, but I can’t tell if I’m at 90 degrees or 88.. several of my achievements are broken , I can’t complete them for decor. Loa Expectations or the world soul achieves for no reason I can’t complete. one doesn’t work for me and the other won’t give me the credit for a dungeon I have done again and again.
A couple of times I had a bug where nothing would happen when I clicked on the decor to learn it. I was able to fix it each time by doing /reload ui. Then it would work fine. I do not know if the bug is related to add-ons or not.
I had the same problem. Reloads didn’t work. Relogging didn’t work.
When I logged on from a different PC and was able to use the decor, I knew something on my main PC was the issue.
I used the Scan and Repair, from the Warcraft options menu, on my main PC, and I can now use/learn decor again.
