Cancelling Sub - Want to stay

I’m not posting to rant or flame or say something toxic. I’m writing so that hopefully things will be changed.

I was very excited to play this expansion and I think it’s one of the best I’ve played. I’m totally digging the covenant storylines, the flavor and depth of the expansion so far. What I can’t deal with, is getting zero rewards for my work, which in this case is loot. I’ve always had bad luck with loot - I, many times, was the last person to get all tier pieces when I was in a raiding guild. I have many, many times had drop rates no where near the posted drop rates for specific items. And on my current main, my demon hunter, I ran through countless Mythic+, Mythic and LFRs in BFA, and by the time the pre-patch for SL dropped, I still had world quest level shoulders, necklace and one weapon.

So let’s fast forward to now, where my demon hunter tank has been running ~10 mythic and mythic+ per week, as well as LFR and the random normal raid groups. I am still carrying five pieces of gear from questing. Within two weeks, I was 2/26. That’s two pieces of gear that were usable out of 26 encounters. For those math wiz’s out there, that’s 7%. I know RNG is a factor, but playing for an entire week (or in this case two weeks), working hard to complete keystones, LFR and whatever else I can fit in to receive absolutely nothing is just the worst feeling, and I’m not entirely sure why the Dev team is so intent on rewarding the 1%. (just fyi, my best vault option was a +4 iLevel upgrade two weeks in a row) Blizzard has been on the positive feedback loop in WoW and Hearthstone for so long that I just can’t play the games anymore.

I want to play this game, but I’m not interested in playing a game who’s developers are intent on keeping the majority of the player base paying for a subscription just because the gear drop rate is so low. I sincerely hope that things change soon.

Take care and happy hunting.

Why do they never post on their main. I mean, particularly if they’re leaving, what do they have to lose?

I always post on my original character, for no other reason besides he’s my first. Since it apparently means so much more to you to see my character than read content, here you go.

Am sorry to hear that you’re feeling so discouraged and I honestly can’t blame you. I do believe that the loot drops at least in m+ should be tweaked upwards. 35 anima in particular feels worse than nothing. fwiw I do think that Blizzard will do this.

It does matter, because it helps us understand where you’re actually coming from. Your profile actually reflects your crappy drop rate and I’d agree indicates an issue, so thanks for sharing.

When someone with 210 ilevel makes the same complaint, its absurd. Likewise, when someone who shows no persistence and hasn’t really accomplished much, its similarly dismissible, IMO.

they just nerfed timewalking raid loot “to be more in line with SL raids”
This expac has less to do than WoD
Covenants are renown-gated garrisons
9.1 would have to be the best patch they have ever released to make SL worth subbing to.

Ah, understood - thanks for clarifying. (:

You should easily be 200 ilvl. You get 184s from world quests and can upgrade covenant gear to 190 atm… sounds like a problem of you just wanting gear from only 1 method tbh

Mythics, Mythic Keystones, LFR, heroics to get to Mythic iLevel and Normal Raid groups does not equal one method. Which, besides the mention of heroics, is what I said in my original post, so I’m not sure what you’re being honest about.

Also, my world quests drop a max of 162 iLevel gear (or something similar) last time I checked. I wasn’t aware you could upgrade covenant gear, I’ll look into that with my remaining time.

You should actuality read your covenant renown perks/upgrades. Renown 19 gives you better wq rewards. You can look ahead any time to see what new buffs/unlocks you’ll get since 21 cap this week. When you finish your covenant campaign this week you’ll have a full set of gear that can be upgraded to 190 this week and 196 next week

You mention mythics and LFR. Your overall iLvl is beyond the gear m0 drops and LFR drops 187. So, you’re basically past that as well.

Your only source of gearing is to run keys or join normal raid groups. Can’t rely on WQ’s, M0’s, and LFR. As you inch closer and closer to the iLvl the content drops, it’s likely time for you to increase the difficulty. You say you tank, so getting in to key groups should be super easy. Target keys with weapon drops, and the rest will come with time.

Also, I Know no one wants to hear it, but you can easily grab a 200 iLvl weap or piece of gear with a little bit of arena. Even at zero rating and just winning some matches here and there, you can gain enough conquest to get a 200 piece (or multiple pieces if you get more conquest).

By now there has been a heroic raid item from 4 mythic dungeons, a normal raid item from 5 timewalkers, four resets of the great vault, and of course all the variety of standard gear drops.
If you truly got that little loot from that much content, you have just gotten extremely unlucky.
I know it might feel bad, but hopefully you enjoy the game enough to not only be playing it for loot.

Don’t forget, you can also upgrade your legendary and it goes VERY high.
Higher than actual mythic raid loot level, and its a guarantee!

If you really want loot, there is and was a lot out there to get.
If you have any questions about how to proceed, let me know and I can try to help you more directly.

Yeah or just exploit M+ to get your high keys done. Easy

I also don’t like how gear goes, but I’m in another part. As you can see, I’m I’ll 195. I grinned honor, ran heroics then the M0. Forty, I got drops every run. Now the only drop I can’t get is the memory for rsham from sanguine. The main part that bothers me for gear is one, needing R22 for pvp gear. Which by the time I acquire it (I prob could of already, just isn’t my priority) and then I’m capped on ilvl due to it being unrated. Secondly, I did grind to 1600 rating, which allows me to upgrade more, but eventually that will hit its threshold, once again, being prevented from moving upward.
Now the other issue is the Vault. I did one +2, so only received a 200 ilvl helm. Garbage unfortunately. The worst part, I would need to run rated pvp to amass honor, 1250 for the first, the upward so on to get gear for that. I ran 2 rated and loss both, and didn’t get much honor. So already, that is going to be a dead system, for me at least.
So while some get it immediately, it may not even work out after. But good luck, and like you, I do enjoy playing, just don’t like how the gear is acquired.

To be fair, alot of us are just doing weeklies including killing the world boss while we wait for flying. Either this raid tier will be obsolete in 9.1 and thus not worth doing, or it won’t and you can still do it in 9.1 anyway.

Unfortunately, it is just that.

I do enjoy the game, but the time I’m putting into the game isn’t correlating with the progress I should have been able to make at this point. Early on, I was doing well with heroics and was able to progress easily. Now that everyone else, including several friends who play much less and have much higher ilevel, is higher than I am, it’s actually quite difficult to get into groups, especially raid groups. They are all looking for a min of 190. I’ve even had groups decline my request to join M+2s. So you see, it’s not a will to play, because I genuinely want to play. It’s that I’m not willing to play an endless grind that has me bashing my head against a wall doing the same level of content week after week, with no reward.

Please don’t take my skepticism as an unwillingness to learn or try to correct the issue. I really do appreciate everyone’s suggestions and plan on looking into some of them later tonight.

Being super unlucky is no fun, but its just part of the game.
When it happens to me, I always look at what the actual odds are of that happening to me for a silver lining.

I have now recorded 150 M+ runs on my Blood DK. If I had the time, I would be interested in seeing just what the reality is about my loot luck.
I bet it would be eye opening one way or another!

Either way, if you are having trouble with groups, always make your own / do your own key.
I pushed my Holy Paladin’s key from a 4 or something all the way to 11 last week, and I only played it those 4 hours that entire week.

Keys are much easier than people think they are at this point, and there is no reason you should be getting stuck with not being able to get 2s done.

If you have questions about M+ as well, I am particularly well versed in helping with that too.

Time Walking Uld was a good place to get some gear. Went with Guidies and loot was traded to others if it wasnt needed by the person. I walked out of there with a few new items and traded some items to others.

Why should they?

Honestly, I’m always suspect of people that use that as a metric. For instance, the other day someone posted some criticism about whatever, and a person who replied dissected them. Not because of what they posted, but because of their achievements, ilvl, etc.

So, that is why people don’t like to post on their mains. It is only relevant to people who want to troll them on a different level, that usually has no bearing on the message.

So you’ve done a handful of mythic dungeons, exactly 8 raid bosses, and precisely zero pvp, and you’re expecting to be fully geared already? I don’t know what to tell ya, but I think cancelling is the correct move since you’re clearly playing the wrong game.
