Money, plain and simple.
China is a huge market, as well as a source for manufacturing, and accounts for 95 percent of the world’s production of rare earth elements.

So if you sell stuff the market is important.
If you sell the stuff in the US, Canada, or Europe the cheap manufacturing is important.
If you are in the defense, computer, or electric vehicle industries rare earth elements are important.

I don’t think it’s cancel culture. It’s martyr culture. Some people are so self-important and firm believers in the sound of their own voice that they gladly martyr themselves for antiquity. And you know what. Good for them. I encourage stupid people to speak their stupid minds. It’s hilarious.
